After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!
I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

Jennifer G says
FABRIC ME!!!
I was either going to be named Jennifer or Melissa. Go figure, it was 1980- I ended up being Jennifer. :)
Lauren says
FABRIC ME! My parents chose the name Lauren because they thought that it was a good name for a strong, independent woman to possess.
Steph says
“FABRIC ME!”
I believe my name means crown or something like that. Something royal, which I definitely am not! I never really wanted to change it. As for my maiden name, I always hated it growing up. But by the time I got married and was giving it up I actually didn’t mind it. Go figure!
Gwen says
Fabric me!
There is nothing special about my name that drew my parents to it, as far as I know. I always wondered why they gave me my name since they called me Wendy growing up, but I love it now.
Marinna S. says
FABRIC ME! I got my name because my parents liked boats, so they named me after a place to store boats, also because my great grandpa’s name was Marinis. I have two n’s in my name because my mom’s name ‘Dianna’ has two n’s and so does my grandma’s name ‘Anna’.
Karitas says
Fabric ME!
My name, Karitas, means charity. My mom was reading a book while she was pregnant with me where one of the characters had this name.
When I was younger I wasn´t thrilled about my name but now I love it and I´m planning to get a tattoo with the “hope, faith and charity” symbol :)
I love that you have world wide giveaway once in a while, since I live in Iceland ;)
Rachel Hansen says
FABRIC ME!! My name means “ewe”– I had a complex when I was a kid and happened to see in a baby name book what my name meant. I thought it said “ew” :/ A female sheep is much better!

Fabric Me! In Hebrew my name means princess.
Sheri says
Fabric Me!!!!
My dad’s best friend growing up was named Sherrie. He wanted to name me after her, but thought people would have a hard time pronouncing the name so they shorten it to Sheri :)
Tracy a says
FABRIC ME!!
My name means courageous and it is mostly true…except when confronted with the local cougars and bears we’ve got in our area! Then, my name is just “scared witless!”
Niki says
FABRIC ME!
Niki…well…my mom thought Niki on As the World Turns was beautiful (it was 1980). So, that’s how I go my name. (We are from KY, what can I say?)

Dee W says
Fabric Me! My parents already knew my middle name would be Jean, as both my grandmothers are named Jean, and apparently they just searched through the baby book name book til they found a name that they thought went well with it- Deanna! As a kid, somehow I felt jipped by the lack of a cooler back story!
Paula says
FABRIC ME!
My mom liked Laura, but there were too many of them in her family. So, she thought Paula was close enough.
Mary says
FABRIC ME!!! My moms name is Mary Ann. No big surpise to me there.

Fabric me!
My name is Latin for victory; perhaps that will be true in this giveaway!
Katherine says
FABRIC ME! I was roughly named after a family friend Kathryn and my aunt Kathleen, though for as long as I can remember my family’s always called me Katie. Katherine Wilson-Whiting was a long name when I was first learning to write, don’t think Mum & Dad thought of that.
PS. Awesome that this freebie is open to the whole world, even all the way down here to little ol’ New Zealand!
Brandy T says
Fabric Me! No real meaning behind my name that I know of. I think my parents liked the song.

My parents were expecting a boy so they had no girl names picked out. My dad was in the waiting room and saw Loni Anderson on TV and BO Derek on the cover of a magazine…..So I became Lani Bo Gill. Awesome-sauce.
Kate says
FABRIC ME!
I was named after Katharine Hepburn, my Dad’s favourite actress. Mom wanted to name me Penelope – in hindsight either would have worked! :)
Thanks for the giveaway!
Kate
Natasha says
FABRIC ME! My parents couldn’t decide on a name when I was born. On the day my mom and I were to be released from the hospital they wouldn’t let me go because I still didn’t have a name! So they quickly decided on Natasha….good thing I love it! :)
Barbie S. says
Will ya, FABRIC ME!
My name is Barbie, you read that right, its Barbie – short for Barbara. Why Barbara – my parents made a promise to Saint Barbara that if they have another girl, they would name it after her. Why Barbie – because all Barbara’s in South Florida (Miami) are nick named Barbie, regardless if they look like one or not. I don’t, but I’m still Barbie….. ;o)
Kim says
FABRIC ME!
My name has three syllables, Kim-ber-ly – and so do my three other sisters, Pamela, Deborah and Michelle (well okay that’s two) because my Mom thought that her new married name (Ling) was super short and she wanted us all to have nice long names for things like awards and diplomas (yes, high expectations!) but the funny part is that we all go by one syllable versions of our names, Kim, Deb, Pam, and Meesh! Oh Mom! Another funny thing about having the last name Ling is that there are some things you just can’t name your child – like Drew, Carol (oh and the naughty one Connie) and the classic – May which happens to be my mom’s name!
Kate says
Fabric Me!!!
My given name is Katherine but my parents really wanted to name me Katie but they didn’t think it flowed with my middle name, Grace. They called me Katie for many years but I started going by Kate and still do to this day.
Liz A. says
FABRIC ME!! I was named after one of my moms best friends, and then we became known as “big Elizabeth” (her) and little Elizabeth (me).

Fabric me! I am named after my parents. My daddy’s name is Frank and he
was very hesitant about giving a girl a “boy” name. My middle name is my mothers name. I love it and have never wished I had been named something else.
Louise says
FABRIC ME!
My Mother picked my name from a favourite Aunt. I’ve always liked it because it’s meaning is Famous Warrior … add to that – I was born in the Year of the Tiger ;)
Michelle Penny says
FABRIC ME! My parents sentenced me to a lifetime of going by my middle name (Lee Michelle) because there was an actress in the 70s named Michelle Lee and they didn’t want people to think they had named me after her. Of course, no one has heard of her now.
toby says
fabric me!
my name is toby, so many envelopes are addressed to “mr. toby”
but im a lady:) toba is the real name and it means “dove”
Steve says
FABRIC ME for my WIFE!
Steven is my name, I go by Steve, but my Wife and Mother call me Steven. Parents picked it because it is an unusual and uncommon name….. LOL! ;o)
LoriSF says
FABRIC ME!
My name was not decided on before my birth. My name was actually supposed to be Erin but, when I was born, the doctor held me up and asked her what my name was. She blurted out, “Lori!” in bewilderment. My dad was surprised but it apparently stuck. They eventually got their Erin 8 years later when my little sister was born. LOL!
Krista says
FABRIC ME!
My parents were going to originally name me Megan. When my Mom’s older sisters came to see me in the hospital and asked the name they had chosen…they rudely informed my mom that I was sure to be called “Meg” and that sounds like a name for a horse!! (Such nice older sisters) Seeing my mom in tears, a sweet nurse brought her a huge book of names the hospital had on hand. My dad shut the door and they looked through the book. Saw the name “Christa” and loved it. Changed the spelling to “Krista”, and didn’t tell a soul until they filled out the form for the birth certificate! I’ve always liked my name, but Megan would have been great too! I think “Meg” sounds like she would be one cool chick. :)
cali says
Fabric me!!
Kristen says
Fabric me!
I can’t think of anything for my name, but I love the story behind my sons! We picked the name Everett because we loved it, but not for it’s meaning (wild boar). Since he’s been walking though (the last 2 years!), he’s lived up to his name ;)
Lindsay says
FABRIC ME!
They chose Lindsay because it was the one name they could agree on!
Jennifer says
Fabric Me!
Nothing special about first name, but my middle name is a family tradition for first born females (Elaine).
Timea says
FABRIC ME!
My parents picked my name from a novel written by a Hungarian writer Mór Jókai. “Timea” was the main character in it.
Alysson says
FABRIC ME!
Jenny says
fabric me! My parents wanted to name me Emily, but were worried that the name would be too popular. Um, hello 1970s Jennifer???? Oops.
