Fab Freebie: What’s In A Name?

*** This giveaway is now closed – see who won below! ***

After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!

I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

    FABRIC ME!

My parents gave me a relative’s name as a middle name, not realizing that when the initial is combined with my maiden name, it sounds like a part of the body. As you can imagine, we were very careful picking out our own kids’ names.

I was supposed to be Erica, but my mom changed her mind. Good thing, too, since my husband’s name is Eric. There’s no special reason why my parents picked it, but I’ve always really liked my name. I hope my daughter feels the same way someday!

My name means faith is Russian, but that is not why may parents named me Vera. It is the same as my mom’s, and her’s is the same as her grandmother’s. My family is all very creative but when it comes to names…my brother’s is also the same as my dad’s – enough said?

“And Aubrey was her name. A not so very ordinary girl or name. But who’s to blame.” Name that tune! And that’s what I was named after. I hated the name growing up, but its becoming very trendy among little girls so I don’t have to spell it to EVERYONE any longer. I actually like it now.

I am not sure the origin of my name, but all through my childhood everyone spelled it wrong – Leslie vs Lesley. So my parents told me that I was spelling it the Irish way (we are super irish)…not sure if that was accurate but it was a good response! We are in dire need of lots of fabric because we are expecting our first little one and the nursery needs everything!

My name means ‘Laughing Rock’, my dad always wanted to name his first born Zach simply because he liked the name, turns out it’s a great descriptor for me. I love to laugh, I love to smile, I think humor is a god’s gift to man! As far as my middle name, the ‘Rock’ part, I think Rock fits well. I’m strong willed and I never give up. If you ask my wife she’d probably say my name fits because I’m funny looking, hard-headed and never remember anything … Either way, I still like my name.
