After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!
I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

Colleen says
FABRIC ME!!
My name means “An Irish Girl” in Gaelic. It’s fitting because my family is as Irish as they come…I lived there for a summer in college and radio DJs and the like used “Colleen” instead of “girl”. We’ve got a colleen on the phone, let’s see if she knows the top five songs. Too funny.
Joan B. says
FABRIC ME!
My mom and dad both have sisters named Jean. Neither one of them liked the name Jean, but they wanted something similar, so they called me Joan. THEN they made the whole point moot and nicknamed me Joey! It wasn’t until YEARS later that I found out that Joey was also the name of my mom’s favorite dog when she was growing up. (sigh)
Becky says
Fabric me! I have no clue what my name inspiration was. It was supposed to be jessica and they changed it to Rebecca last minute
Tessa says
Fabric me!
My parents came up with my name by having my aunt sit down at the piano and play with different syllables being sung together. I was the only Tessa I knew until high school. I have probably met ten in my whole life.

Carrie says
FABRIC ME!!!
My first name(Carrie) is the nickname for my mom’s name Carolyn. My middle name is after my mom’s youngest sister’s middle name Lea (pronounced LEE). I always wished I had a name that could be shortened for a cute nickname but I love that I am named after to very special people in my life!
I wold really love to win this because I am planning on making my first quilt this year and this would help SOOOOO much.
Alisa says

I’m named after my grandfather :) my name is very, very special to me. My mom used his first name as my middle name and his middle name as the first part of my first name, then tagged “lene” on the end of it which is the ending of her first name. I feel wrapped in love whenever I think about it.

FABRIC ME!!! – 3 exclamation points for luck. My name is Leigh, which in old(e) English means sunlit meadow. There is a joke in my family that my parents may not have had a name picked out prior to my mom going into labor since there is a street named Leigh Avenue right across from the hospital where I was born. Coincidence? Maybe. :)

FABRIC ME! My name almost caused a war! I was first named Sarah after my great aunt, which caused her and her sister to stop talking, because Sarah told her sister they must like her best. My name was quickly amended to Sarah Rose to include both names for my first name.

FABRIC ME!
I have such a common name that I always went by my full name growing up. There were always at least 3 other Sarah’s in any given class or club. My best friend still calls me by my full name like it’s one word, even though I took my husband’s last name. She’s the only one I let get away with that. :)

Lynette says
Fabric Me Please!
Dawn says
FABRIC ME! This would be perfect – just ripped down what wasn’t working AT all, and now have drop cloths up for curtains until we decide what to do. My name – I believe it was chosen because it rhymes w/ my twin brother’s name. My mom and dad didn’t know they were having twins until the dr came out and said “There’s two!” and my dad replied, “Two what?”. I don’t like my middle name however (not to be divulged!) and have chosen an alternate, but have never changed it.

FABRIC ME! I have been trying to find the perfect fabric to use to make a headboard now for 4 months. I’ll have to look through this site! I was named Brittany because both my parents move here from Great Britain when they were kids. Brittany means “from Britain” and my mom liked that she didn’t know anyone named Brittany so it made it a little unique.
amy good house says
Fabric Me!
My name – Amy – is a shortened version of my grandfather’s name Amadeo (they called him Ames too), plus it was an insanely popular name during the early 1980s.
Angela says
Fabric me! My name means angel. Pretty sure it’s not entirely appropriate.

FABRIC ME! My parents agreed that if I was a girl, my mom could name me, but my dad would get to pick the name if I’d been a boy. If I had been male, my name would be Rocket. My dad called me Rocky anyway!
