After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!
I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

“FABRIC ME!” My first name came from a soap opera. I did not have a middle name when I was born, so they asked my dad to pick one and he went with my nurses name. He did this without consulting my mom. Ha.

Everyone in my family has names that starts with a “C” — so they just found a C name they liked :)
Lizzie says
FABRIC ME! – I always thought my middle name came from Anne of Green Gables, so I walked around telling everyone I was “Anne with an E”…just like in the books/movies. I finally found out that not only was I not named after Anne of Green Gables…I didn’t even have an E. My heart was broken. Plain old Ann with no E.
Nicole M. says
FABRIC ME!
My first name was supposed to be Erica…because my mom was obsessed with Erica on “All My Children”, haha…but that was nixed by my dad. Not sure how I ended up with the final choice of Nicole. My middle name “Sabra” was my great grandma’s first name and my grandma’s middle name…so if I ever have a baby girl, I will have to keep the tradition going :)

: )
I have my odd name because my parents are both teachers and every single name that they came up with reminded one of them of a student they didn’t like!! LOL… So, in the end they had to make something up and each chose a name.
I’m not a big fan of it, I get teased a lot and you’d never know I live in Toronto Ontario – you’d expect me to be on a farm somewhere!
When I was a teenager they told me that they’d almost chosen Meghan – UGH! So much better!
Ashley says

Can’t think of a better name for myself, but I will say that I am so glad my parents did not go with the spelling “Ashleigh” – too many extra letters!!

Daffodil says
FABRIC ME! My parents always said they just liked my name, but somewhere along the way they let slip that they had first heard my name because it was the name of a bar in the town where they lived when they were first married. After a while, they let slip even further that it was sort of a seedy bar frequented by ne’er-do-wells. Which is weird because my parents aren’t big bar people, let alone ne’er-do-wells who become barflies at a seedy joint. But there you go.
