Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. Nina says
FABRIC ME!
“Little girl” in a variety of languages. The story I was told was that there was a sitcom in the early 80s, and one of the character’s names was Nina, and apparently my mom liked it. :)
Emily says
Fabric me!!
Just the only name my parents could agree on. I wish it weren’t so popular, but it’s a good name no complaints :)
Lauren says
FABRIC ME!!
No idea where my name came from, but I always wanted to change the spellingo something more creative growin up!
Kim B says
Fabric Me
Michelle says
My parents were arguing about what to name me when the song “Michelle” by the Beatles came on the radio.
Lisa says
Fabric me! My name screams the ’70s – Lisa. And my mom wanted me to have a short name so I could spell it easily in kindergarten :)
Heidi says
“FABRIC ME!”
My mother named me after a doll from the 1950’s, “Heidi.” She always loved the name and when she married a man of German decent it was a done deal. When I was job hunting in my early twenties, I sometimes wished for a name that was more “serious,” but generally I’ve always liked having a unique name. It helps to be the only “Heidi” in the group/office/class when you have such an impossible-to-pronounce last name.
Jenny says
FABRIC ME!
Since I was an “oops” baby (there’s 23 years between me and my brother – and for all those years he thought he was an only child ~ yeah right!)my parents weren’t quite ready with a name. So for a couple of days I remained nameless. Don’t know where they picked Jennifer from but I would have loved it if I could have been named after my maternal grandmother (Rachael).
Robin W says
FABRIC ME!
I was born March 21st so my dad thought a spring name would be appropriate – he got to the birth certificate first, my mother wanted to name me Amber Dawn, but he overruled with Robin. I’ve been pretty happy about it.
mollie says
FABRIC ME!
I’m named after my sweet grandmother :)
jennie says
FABRIC ME!
Jennie was my great, great grandmother’s name – not Jennifer, just Jennie. : )
Jessica says
FABRIC ME!
Jessica means God beholds.
Sara says
Fabric Me! Please….. I was named after a Dylan song.
Nicole Grove says
FABRIC ME!
From what I was told, my name (Nicole) was the only name my parents could agree on! My dad wanted Desiree, but mum said it would sound like a stripper name. Then they had decided on Gabriella, but then a nurse said “Oh we can call her Gabby!” and my mum didn’t like that either. So then they finally decided the worst someone could do to Nicole was Nikki…LOL!
As far as middle names go though, it was always going to be Katherine, after my great grandmother on my dad’s side.
keri says
FABRIC ME!
My mom wanted to name me “Carry Moonbeams” from the song that goes “Carry moonbeams home in a jar, and be better off where you are…” (Bing Crosby, Swinging on a Star)
My grandmother veto’d that, so my mom named me “Keri Marie” – sort of close.
Cathy C says
Fabric me! Nothing interesting behind my name, my moms whole family is K names, so they specifically didn’t want to give me a K.
Laura @ Chaotic Domestic says
Fabric Me!
No special meaning behind my name, other than that my parents liked it. My middle name is my aunt’s (and godmother’s) name, though.
Deb Graham says
FABRIC ME!!!!! Please.
My name is Deborah and it means “bee” in Hebrew. Am I a bee? I only sting with love. Good luck to,everyone.
Kim says
FABRIC ME!!! My mother’s middle name was Antionette. She shortened it to Ann for my middle name…naming me Kimberly Ann. I then passed it on to my daughters. Leigh Ann taking the end of Kimber”LY” and adding Ann for Leigh Ann. My second daughter is ShANNon so we slid Ann in her name as well!
Katie says
Fabric Me!!!!
My parents picked out my name Katelyn the moment they say me. There’s really no background to it!
Katie Rose says
FABRIC ME!
My name is Katie Rose and it means “pure”. Also, my mom read a book when she was a child called “Don’t call me Katie Rose” and she always loved the name, so she named her only daughter Katie Rose!
HOLLIE says
FABRIC ME!!!!! THE STORY IS MY MOM HAD A THING FOR BUDDY HOLLY BUT TRIED TO COVER IT UP BY CHANGING THE SPELLING.
JK – SHE JUST LIKED THE NAME
Erika says
FABRIC ME!
My parents got my name from some Western movie that my dad watched at the time. My name means “honorable ruler”. I haven’t quite lived up to it ye ;)

meghan says
fabric me!
no meaning behind my name, always wished there was though. maybe that’s why there is a reason/meaning behind each of my three kid’s names?
Marika says
FABRIC ME!
Marika means “little Mary” in Ukrainian, and although my father is Ukrainian, my mom liked the name because she met a woman named Marika at a party and loved her bubbly personality. Over the years I’ve learned the name is used in many different cultures, each using very different spellings.
jaclyn says
FABRIC ME!
Not sure of the significance of my name but I do know the spelling comes from Jaclyn Smith.
When I was in elementary school I was dead set on changing my name to Danielle. I was obsessed with that name but luckily now, I like my name.
Sarah says
FABRIC ME!
My name means princess, but to my parents I was named not for the meaning but for a song that they loved. Sara Smile by Hall and Oates is my song….. Each one of their children were named after favorite songs during the pregnancy! I love my name and would never change it!
MaKaela says
Fabric Me! My parents spelled my name, MaKaela and I have never found anyone with the exact same spelling yet!
Melanie says
Fabric Me! I’m named after my grandma. Her middle name is Melanie.
Ashley says
“FABRIC ME!”
My name doesn’t have much meaning. My parents just liked it…too bad lots of other parents who had little girls in the ’80s also liked “Ashley.” It makes me want to make sure I name my little ones something meaningful, and I am a sucker for a good family name!
Brittany P says
FABRIC ME!
Supposedly my mom liked my name from a soap opera back in the day. I’m not sure how true that is. Regardless, I love my name! :)
redkimba says
FABRIC ME!
1.) My name is Kimberly, 2.) I have reddish hair and 3.) I was going for a Red Sonja feeling.
Redkimba! Slashing and slaying a swath across the deep, dark, suburban jungle of New Jersey!
It could happen.
Amy F says
FABRIC ME!
Rachel says
FABRIC ME!
Rachel means Little Lamb and growing up I was often called Little Lamb. My mom also thought it would be fun to decorate my room with several lamb themed items. :) I liked it though, it made me feel special and unique.
Ravelle says
“FABRIC ME!”
My father has a love for classical music and so my parents named me Ravelle after his favorite classical composer (added the le to make it feminine)….
I love my name :)
Abby E. says
FABRIC ME! I never liked my name growing up because there weren’t many kids named Abby but I was told countless times about family dogs named Abby (that’s a tough one for a kid)! Ever since my niece was named after me a few years ago I’ve really come to love and not just tolerate it.
Mary Buckelew says
FABRIC ME! I sew all the time. I’d love the gift certificate! I am named, along with my sister Martha, after biblical people. I never knew them… ha ha. My middle name is the same as my grandmother’s. So………. steeped in tradition and very boring, actually!
Kim says
Fabric Me! I was named after my dear Aunt.
Katie K says
FABRIC ME! My initials were going to be KRP and my aunt kept trying to get my mom to name me Wanda Katie Rebecca Pendley so that my initials would be WKRP like the tv show. Thank God they didn’t! HAHA!
Susan C says
FABRIC ME!
My full name is Linda Sue, but I’ve always gone by Sue or Susan. When people ask me why my parents never called me by my first name, I tell them it’s because my Tokyo-born mother couldn’t pronounce the L. “Rinda Sue, Rinda Sue.”
Lissa says
FABRIC ME!
My name, Melissa means “honey bee.” They didn’t pick it for the meaning but for the number of syllables…nerdy, right? First name, middle name, last name 3-2-1. Then I had to get married and mess it up. 3-1-2…Alas :)
Brittany says
FABRIC ME!!!
A child of the 80’s… My Dad heard the name at work and new it was the right one for his second daughter:) see you guys in Charlotte!!!
Marie-Claire says
FABRIC ME!
My hyphenated first name was a compromise for my parents, seeing as each wanted one name and neither was willing to cave to the other. My last name rhymes perfectly with my first and I get a lot of attention because of it.
In fact, an indie band in Toronto (where I live) named a song & album after me… Thing is, we’d never met. My name is unique to me (I’m the only result if I google my name), so I guess people talk about my name even when I’m not around
Justine V. says
Fabric me!
No special meaning, mom just loved it :)
Angela says
FABRIC ME!
I was named after my grandfather, Angelo. Always have been delighted with/proud of that.
Elizabeth says
Fabric Me!
My parents taught me early that they named me Elizabeth – not Liz, not Beth, not any of the other hundreds of nicknames. When my friends tried to shorten it in first grade, I didn’t speak to them for two weeks until they called me Elizabeth again – and I’ve been full-naming it ever since!
Lindsey says
FABRIC ME!
My middle name is passed down from my Grandmother, Marcella. We are expecting a girl in April and we will continue the tradition and name her Evelyn Marcella.
Lauren says
FABRIC ME!
As the story goes, I actually “chose” my own name. I was born around midnight and so the first time my mom saw me was for the 2 am feeding. As she was waiting, she heard the cart with all the newborns being rolled closer and closer to her shared room. There was one baby in particular who was rather loud and my mom told my father “I feel sorry for that mother.” As the cart came closer, the baby’s cries grew louder and louder until the cart stopped at her room. And wouldn’t you know, she got the loud one. So my parents started going over the list of names they had picked out for a girl and when they reached “Lauren” I stopped crying. And that’s how I got my name. My little brother on the other hand was a perfect little baby and therefore got named for a bishop who was a close family friend.
Rachel D. says
Fabric me! No story behind my name… though I must say I am glad I wasn’t born a boy, my name would very likely have been Frank Lloyd!
angela says
Fabric Me!
My dad picked my name…mom wanted something different, but dad won. Thank goodness! =)
