I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. Jen says
FABRIC ME!!
I’m named after two of great grandmothers with a slight change. My mom’s maternal grandma’s name was Jennie, but my grandpa said there was nothing worse than a 90-year-old woman with a little girl’s name, so my mom relented and named me Jennifer Ruth instead. There are several generations of females with “J” names: Jennie, Jayne, Janice, and me.
Pat says
Fabric Me! Patricia means “noble” but I don’t think my parents investigated it that deeply before naming me. My parents selected my name because it went nicely with my older brother’s name.
Monica C says
Fabric Me! I was named after Saint Monica.
Bethany says
FABRIC ME!
There’s no real meaning to my name, my parents just liked it and it sounded nice with my sister’s name (Melissa). Meaningful names are great but now that I’m picking out a name for my son I don’t want anything that will put too much pressure on him.
Megan says
Fabric me!
My parents just liked the name and they claim at the time it was not very common ;) it used to bother me that so many people had my name but now I love my name and all the nicknames people have come up with from it.
Holly H says
Fabric Me!
No special meaning behind my name, my parents just liked it, and nope I wasn’t born around Christmas time either.

FABRIC ME!
No fun story about the origin of my name– I think it was popular at the time.
Marie Holmes says
FABRIC ME! My name is Marie Annette. My mom’s name is Annette and she really wanted to name me Marie Antionette after the queen. But my dad wouldn’t let her. I have to tell you a funny story. My daughter told my son one day a story about who he was named after. “Your name is Daniel Timothy”. “Timothy is dad’s best friend.” “He asked what about the Daniel?” She replied, “Jack Daniels silly!”
Danielle Cline says
Fabric me! My name is Danielle Grace.my dad picked my first name because it was French and because he said that I just looked like a Danielle. The middle name Grace has been in my family for generations.
Maura says
FABRIC ME! My name is from a book my mother was reading when pregnant with me. As a kid I didn’t like it… (too different)… but I’m so glad now that they choose a name that was (is) unique.

Fabric me! I am named after a race car driver my parents cheered for

FABRIC ME!!
I am pretty sure my name, Jennifer, means “70s child of uncreative parents”.
And yes, I have always wanted to be Kira.
Elisabet G. Jonsdottir says
FABRIC ME! Don’t know the exact meaning behind my name, but it is very royal, and I find that kinda cool. I also have a long and heavy middle name (Gudrun) and when I was younger I always thought my name was way too formal. Today I like it. I was named after two grandmothers.
Katie B. says
Fabric Me!
When my mother was pregnant she had a dream she had a little red haired girl named Katie. When I came out with blazing red hair, she knew exactly what to call me!
Rachel O. says
FABRIC ME!! There really is no meaning behind why my parents named me Rachel. When I was growing up I really didn’t like my name at all and I always wanted to change it to Stacy or Amber (that’s right I’m an 80s baby :)) but now I really like my name and don’t want to change it.
Kristin says
FABRIC ME!
There is no special meaning behind my name, but there are many many Kristin (or variants) born the same year I was. There were seven of us in my Kindergarten grade. I think I would prefer a more old fashioned name like Pearl or Ruby.
Jessica says
FABRIC ME!!
I don’t think there is any real significance behind my first name other than my parents liked it. But my middle name is a family name. It’s my mom’s first name, and my grandmother’s middle name, and her mother’s before that.
Jayne Mercer says
FABRIC ME!
No story behind my name but I believe my middle name is after Wendy in Peter Pan which I think is cute.

FABRIC ME!
My name means ‘pure’ and to my knowledge it is just a name that both of my parents liked.
Anna says
FABRIC ME!
Named after my dad’s beloved Auntie Annie…but they didn’t want me to get teased or called Annie-Fanny (slang for vjay-jay in our country…we laugh ourselves sick when we hear Americans talking about their fanny-packs, which we call bumbags).
Theresa W says
FABRIC ME!
I was named after my mom… and have done the same to my kids :)
Tracey says
FABRIC ME! As far as I know, there is no hidden meaning behind my name, but as a kid, I didn’t like it and wished my name was Jeannie in the worst way (from the show, I dream of Jeannie). I used to ask my mom all the time why she didn’t name me Jeannie. Kinda glad now. Tracey is better for me. Thanks for the opportunity!
Krystal C. says
FABRIC ME! I have no idea why I’m named this! When I was a kid, the name game in school made everyone make fun of me because the only ‘K’ adjective I could come up with was Kinetic! I was bummin’ on my nomen for a few years, but then I embraced my extra nerdy-ness and my name and I are getting along quite well!
Heather says
FABRIC ME!
I was supposed to be a boy, so my mother picked my name on the fly (otherwise I would have been something like Tyler). My husband and I are expecting our first child this summer, so this “what’s in a name” game is weighing heavily on our minds as we try to choose what to name our little one!
Teri says
FABRIC ME!! My name is a combination of my mother’s (Tina) plus her sister’s (Terri) to make Terina and for years I was called Bee… Go figure.

FABRIC ME!! My name is my mother’s middle name and it is Irish for Mary. :)
Bethany says
FABRIC ME!
The choosing of my name is a family-favorite story; we tell EVERYONE. My brother chose my name. It’s the classic “I don’t care if it’s a boy or a girl, but if it’s a girl can we send her back?” story. Since my parents were disagreeing on girls’ names, my brother got to choose. My first name came from the bible (he was a studious bible study goer) and starts with a “B” because his does. My middle name is my mom’s middle name because his is my dad’s. It will always be a special story in my life :)
melanie says
from my mother’s love of gone with the wind…my brother is brett – guess my dad wouldn’t let her have melanie and “rhett”

Mara Smith says
Fabric Me!
My name is Mara, which in the biblical term means “bitter”. Nice, huh?
I’m actually named after my Aunt, Mara. My middle name is from another Aunt as well, Magdalena. As a child I always hated my name because no one could ever pronounce it. Now as an adult, I love it and would not change it!
April says
FABRIC ME!!! Someone suggested April b/c I was due in April and my mom thought that was a very stupid choice….then I was two weeks late.
Christine says
I don’t think there’s any special meaning in my first name but I was given my middle name, Marie, after my dad’s sister who he adored!
Karma says
FABRIC ME!
My parents actually gave me a very boring first name so I changed it by deed poll to ‘Karmashka’.
They did give me a middle name which is somehow simultaneously cool and dorky. Enola-Gay. The name of a great song by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark but unfortunately also the name of the plane that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima.
Bárbara says
FABRIC ME!
My name comes from the patronness of artillery, my father is in the army and the always wanted a daughter called Bárbara. The thing is that my grandma hated the name, she said it was too strong for such a little girl and when the priest said Marta while baptising me, she was so happy and tried to stop my father from correcting him. Anyway I ended up with Bárbara and I really like it, because here in Spain is not very common.
Meredith says
FABRIC ME!
There is not a significant meaning behind my name. From what I’ve heard, my parents loved the name Mary, but wanted something a little less common, so they decided on Meredith. I am very happy with my name! :)
Tiffanee says
FABRIC ME!
Kate says
FABRIC ME! My name (Katherine) is my grandmother’s name, I was named after her. I couldn’t be prouder or more honored to have been named after such a wonderful woman!
Martina says
FABRIC ME!
I was named after a family friend. My brother’s name has a great story… my mother was going to call him Allister. Apparently 4 year old me hated this name (frankly 28yo me also hates the name) and went to Sunday school and told every one my new brother’s name was Michael. My parents started receiving all these “Congrats on your new baby, Michael!” cards. My parents then changed his name.
Sarah says
Fabric me! I have my grandmother’s name & I really like the idea of using family names for kids.
Lianne says

My name means “clinging vine” apparently. My brother’s means “box of strong” haha.
I wish I had such awesome fabric places near by!
Debra Wooley says
FABRIC ME! I have several stories!!! My mother’s name was Frieda and she hated it! So when her 7 children were born, she gave us all very common, ordinary names. Fred, Nancy, Pam, Kathy, Debra, Ricky and Daniel. Now, my youngest granddaughter is my namesake, Debra. Also,I was married to a guy who had the most unusual first and middle name I ever heard….”King Easter”……he was born on Easter Sunday.
Krista says
FABRIC ME!!!!
My name means ‘bearer of Christ’ which I love, but I’m pretty sure my parents just picked it because they liked the sound of it!
