Fab Freebie: What’s In A Name?

*** This giveaway is now closed – see who won below! ***

After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!

I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

FABRIC ME!!!! Nothing exciting about my name. I think it was the only name my parents could agree on. :)

Fabric Me! My name means “truthful one” and I am definitely honest, maybe to a fault :) my face can’t hide how I feel about anything! My middle name, Rae, I share with my mother, my great-grandmother, and now my bitty daughter :)

I was named after a lady my mum worked with, who had trusted her to look after her new kittens when she went on holiday!

Fabric Me! My first name has no meaning that I am aware of. My middle name is the same as my mom’s and great grandma’s (and daughter’s). I was supposed to be Gretchen, so I have always been grateful that I was Wendy (no offense to the Gretchens of the world).

No particular meaning behind my name, except for the fact that my dad insisted on a fairly normal first name because we have an unusual (for Ireland) last name.

Not entirely sure how Emily was chosen…I think my mom liked Amelia, and Emily was a compromise. My middle name however…is Geraldine. YUCK! But! I carry it (somewhat) proudly as it was my great-grandmother’s name. I say somewhat, because, honestly, who likes Geraldine? What am I, 93? (To answer the question, no, I am 27 :P)
