Fab Freebie: What’s In A Name?

*** This giveaway is now closed – see who won below! ***

After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!

I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

My name is complicated – I was Jennifer originally, although my mom really wanted to call me Chloe. Eventually when I was around one, my mom just started calling me Chloe, and that became my name (and is now my legal name). But it’s funny to watch early home movies of people calling me Jennifer!

My name is Katryn, creatively spelled by my mother. It should have been spelled Katrin. I’m forever correcting folks who assume I’ve mispelled my own name. I’m pregnant with a baby girl, and take a hard line against creative spellings.

I just ordered samples from here and can’t wait to get some now sew curtains and things done up. My name “Stephanie” comes from the word crown. It means Royalty. I guess that’s fitting seeing how I am a QUEEN! LOL..Well my name was supposed to be Krysti Marie until I was born and then my dad changed it and mom rolled with it. Hard to imagine myself as Krysti Marie. Nope, Now I am Stephanie Lee. At least they kept it rhyming, right? What’s funny is we all rhyme. My mom and dad are Stan and Ann and my sister and I are Stephanie and Tiffany. I think it’s a little strange. :)

My mom is a fan of All My Children. She liked the name Erica from the character on the show!(I’m 26, btw) There were other choices on the list, but it came down to Erica, or Eric if I was a boy. (like another commenter said, my last name is long and complicated, so she wanted my first name to be short and simple.)

My mom saw a set of twins on the Johnny Carson show when she was pregnant with me. Their names were Amber and Autumn. It was a toss up until I was born, I guess! I’ve never been overly fond of it because I think it sounds like a stripper name… this mom of three barely undresses in front of a mirror, let alone a crowd!
