Fab Freebie: What’s In A Name?

*** This giveaway is now closed – see who won below! ***

After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!

I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

    Fabric me!
I have a semi-embarassing story behind mine. My mother always like the name “carrie” but was unsure of a spelling. When she was in the hospital and in labor she was watching TV and a commercial for Keri Lotion came on (anyone remember the Keri is so very commercials?). And, BAM! I was named after a lotion :(

My parents were struggling to pick a name and one day, they were watching the credits roll for “The Adventures of Robin Hood” and noticed Olivia de Havilland’s name. They decided they really liked it and the rest is history! I’ve always been glad to have a name that falls on the more unique end of the spectrum for people my age :)

    FABRIC ME!

My dad claims that he dreamed of my name when he was in college (long before he met my mother and had me) and he liked it so much that it stuck with him for all those years afterwards. He was very particular about the spelling and having an “h” in it! Totally the opposite of how my husband and I picked my son’s name… we went to the hospital with three options, realized none of them fit, and then came up with it in a 3 a.m. haze when the nurse kept asking us to finish the birth certificate. Luckily we absolutely love it still (it’s Carter, by the way)!
