Fab Freebie: West In Show

***Uh oh – looks like we like we hit capacity on this post with over 10,000 comments! But this giveaway is closed anyways, so I guess it’s okay.***

It’s no secret that we love West Elm (we own two daybeds and a desk among other things from their store). So let’s just say that we’ll be mighty jealous of the person who wins this week’s FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR gift card there (four year blogiversaries are for big prizes, after all). And not that you asked, but if you need any help picking out what to buy – might we suggest some of these lurvely items below (Sherry had trouble picking just six things, so we added an extra row and went with nine):

West Elm Moodboard

Not only is West Elm helping us celebrate four years of blogging, they’re also celebrating the launch of their new blog Front & Main (named for the Brooklyn street corner where their original brick-and-mortar store sits). Front & Main actually officially launches next week, but they’re giving all of us a sneak peek today. Oh and if you scroll down a bit while you’re there, you might recognize some familiar faces…

West Elm Blog

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card to West Elm (!!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on THIS OTHER POST with the words “WEST ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since we’re celebrating starting our blog four years ago, tell us how your world is different than it was in 2007. Do you live in a new place? Have a new job? Are you in a new relationship? Or maybe you just have a new hairdo or tattoo?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 21st at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of West Elm.

West me! Let’s see, in 2007, I was about to turn 25, I had one boy instead of two, and it was one, two, three houses ago. In that time we’ve sold a house, bought a house, sold a house and moved across the country to rent a house we’d never actually been in before. Much like you guys, we are (being forced) out of our comfort zone, although ours is due to not wanting to change too much in the rental house. The previous owners loved saturated colors and I’m a white and beige girl, so there has been a definite learning curve. We now have an almost 5 year old and a 2 and a half year old and I turn 29 in two days. Ugh! As a side note, I’ve also gone from having never broken a bone in my life to breaking the same metatarsal in my right foot twice (in two different places).

West Me! Well, in 2007 I only had 1 kid, I was going through a really awful “spat” with my husband, and I had a job I hated. Now, I have 2 kids, an unbelievably amazing relationship with that same husband, and a job I like.

My life is dramatically different! I’m married now. Had a child and lost that child. Now we are working on adopting which wasn’t even on our radar in 2007! I was just graduating college then, and now, am comfortably working as a daycare provider, which is also weird since I graduated with a degree in interior design :)

In 2007, I was in college and thought I was going to be a “professional art historian”…until I figured out that I most likely wasn’t going to find a huge demand for art historians :) Now, 2 (relevant) degrees and a year of work experience later, I’m finally living in a city I love (Birmingham) and just started a job I know I’ll love.

There was a 2007? I can barely remember yesterday! I am back in school after too many years to count. It is a surreal reality check when I am sitting down doing my homework with the kiddos! I have 2 teenagers now and one is about to get her driving license (seriously I don’t feel that old!) and life is crazier and more hectic than ever before. The truth is we have never been happier and life just keeps getting better and we keep getting crazier!!
