Fab Freebie: West In Show

***Uh oh – looks like we like we hit capacity on this post with over 10,000 comments! But this giveaway is closed anyways, so I guess it’s okay.***

It’s no secret that we love West Elm (we own two daybeds and a desk among other things from their store). So let’s just say that we’ll be mighty jealous of the person who wins this week’s FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR gift card there (four year blogiversaries are for big prizes, after all). And not that you asked, but if you need any help picking out what to buy – might we suggest some of these lurvely items below (Sherry had trouble picking just six things, so we added an extra row and went with nine):

West Elm Moodboard

Not only is West Elm helping us celebrate four years of blogging, they’re also celebrating the launch of their new blog Front & Main (named for the Brooklyn street corner where their original brick-and-mortar store sits). Front & Main actually officially launches next week, but they’re giving all of us a sneak peek today. Oh and if you scroll down a bit while you’re there, you might recognize some familiar faces…

West Elm Blog

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card to West Elm (!!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on THIS OTHER POST with the words “WEST ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since we’re celebrating starting our blog four years ago, tell us how your world is different than it was in 2007. Do you live in a new place? Have a new job? Are you in a new relationship? Or maybe you just have a new hairdo or tattoo?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 21st at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of West Elm.

    WEST ME!

In four years we bought a house and I’ve changed jobs five times. My most recent job is being a mommy to our first child, my sweet Madison-boo(don’t worry, the “-boo” part is just a nickname)! She’s three months this Thursday. I think this job might last a little longer than the others. :)

    Since 2007 I have:
    – learned how to build my own furniture
-went from a 3 animals household to a 5 animal one
-refinished tons of thrift store furniture for the house we bought in 2006
-began volunteering at the local animal shelter and made new friends (2 and 4-legged)

    WEST ME!!!

in 4 years, i have gotten married, closed on a house (that needed to be renovated), and had a baby. my husband also became the co-director of the ministry that i was the (lone) director of. we (with the help of our incredible family and community) gutted the kitchen, put in flooring, painted, moved the washer/dryer by closing a bathroom door and making a closet, made a pantry, made a new door to said bathroom, tiled the tub, replaced all the inner doors, replaced both toilets, reinstalled a safer door to our shed after it was broken into, and we’re still going!!! my husband is THE MAN. and all of this actually happened in the last year and a half. i guess the first 2 and a half were not very eventful ;)

    WEST ME!

My life is different from 2007 in so many ways — I was settling into my second home, a rancher just like the one where I spent my first 12 years, in Bon Air. Like my first, I was only the second owner. I was also doing it with my second husband, whom I never expected to meet, much less marry. He passed away two years ago after a long illness, but is always with me here in the home we shared.

And in 2007 my first grandchild was a year old. Now she’s five and I’m soon to be a grandma again, also to another delightful little girl! (She’s expected in December but is showing signs of arriving early.)

I have finished medical school, started a residency program, gained a son and a daughter, buried a dad, moved twice, lots of weddings, gained a new niece and a nephew, and watched my husband go from a computer/numbers geek to the top consultant in his industry…to name a few. Life flies!! Don’t blink!

Nothing outrageously new and exciting has happened to me in the last 4 years (though I’m experimenting with no bangs for a change – how’s that for new?). Also, if I were to win, I’d like to share the prize with Carrie who commented at 3:02 p.m. and whose boyfriend passed away 4 years ago while she was pregnant with their daughter. I hope the apartment she and her daughter are moving into will be filled with great memories together!

2007 was the year I graduated from college, got married (just a couple of weeks after you guys (7/27/2007), got a new apartment with my husband, got our cat, August, from the SPCA, and got a job teaching music to elementary and middle school students.

Now, I’m in my fifth year of teaching, and I’m teaching theatre now too. We bought our first house, moved to a new town, we added a Westie puppy named Tucker to our family…and we’re thinking about adding a baby sometime soon!
