Fab Freebie: West In Show

***Uh oh – looks like we like we hit capacity on this post with over 10,000 comments! But this giveaway is closed anyways, so I guess it’s okay.***

It’s no secret that we love West Elm (we own two daybeds and a desk among other things from their store). So let’s just say that we’ll be mighty jealous of the person who wins this week’s FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR gift card there (four year blogiversaries are for big prizes, after all). And not that you asked, but if you need any help picking out what to buy – might we suggest some of these lurvely items below (Sherry had trouble picking just six things, so we added an extra row and went with nine):

West Elm Moodboard

Not only is West Elm helping us celebrate four years of blogging, they’re also celebrating the launch of their new blog Front & Main (named for the Brooklyn street corner where their original brick-and-mortar store sits). Front & Main actually officially launches next week, but they’re giving all of us a sneak peek today. Oh and if you scroll down a bit while you’re there, you might recognize some familiar faces…

West Elm Blog

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card to West Elm (!!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on THIS OTHER POST with the words “WEST ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since we’re celebrating starting our blog four years ago, tell us how your world is different than it was in 2007. Do you live in a new place? Have a new job? Are you in a new relationship? Or maybe you just have a new hairdo or tattoo?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 21st at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of West Elm.

    WEST ME! :) (Please!)

Four years ago, we’d just moved back to the U.S. after three years in Indonesia. In four years, my husband has completed grad school, started teaching, I kind of fell into a job I’m madly in love with, we’ve expanded our one dachshund, one cat family into TWO dachshunds and one cat, I’m a head organizer for a 300+ member dachshund club (really!) and now we’re looking forward to moving out of our comically tiny grad student apartment and into something with a little more space…and hopefully a little more (West Elm?) style! (We’re also looking forward to, you know, maybe being a two dachshund, one cat, one child family, too!)

Keep up the awesome work! <3

We got married in 2007. Boy have things changed since then! Our daughter is 13 months old, #2 is on the way, I quit work, both of our mothers have beat cancer, we remodeled our house, the house burned down, and now a new house is under construction. Shew! No wonder I’m tired.

4 years ago today I was still in college (starting my senior year). I think I was mostly focused on having the best time I could in my last year! Since then, I’ve graduated college, gotten myself a full time gig, and am currently still saving up to move out (not just move out – buy something of my own).

    WEST ME please!!

I’m not sure you are ready for this but since 2007 . . .
    -had my 2nd baby
-17 months later had my 3rd baby
-baby came 2 weeks after we closed our car business(es)
-had many, many weeks when we didn’t know how to pay the bills
-had many, many debates of ‘leaving’ our house
-had a few too many times when we didn’t know how we were going to feed the kids
-had A COMPLETE STRANGER help us financially – each month until now (it ends in 2 months) only asking us to PAY IT FORWARD
-really learned (and still learning) what Pay It Forward means and how to do it, not just smile at someone
-developed a bond closer to God than ever dreamed
-developed a closer bond in marriage than ever dreamed
-learned to find what is really important in life and thankful every single day for it

I hope that is not too deep for you. My life has changed completely since 2007. For the better & would not trade it for the world, to spite the hard, scary times. To spite that we are still financially in a huge hole. God always comes through for us. The only thing that is the same is I am still an Elementary Art Teacher. 11 years this year.

Thanks for making me think about the past 4 years. I always feel an overwhelming calmness when I think about it. Strange, huh?

Yours have been great. Thanks for sharing. Oh, and enjoy the two naps!! You will cry will they end completely. My ‘baby’ is singing “let’s go! let’s go! G S G O” (It’s suppose to me L E T S G O)

Gosh–so much has changed since 2007! We purchased our first house, I’ve lost (and kept off) 15 pounds, my husband and I took up hiking, and I’ve started a new job (that I’ve now been at for over 2 years). Of course, at that point, my dad was also on about year 2 or 3 of his “5 years to live” that the doctors had given him. By God’s grace, he’s still with us today–and continuing to defy the odds. It’s pretty crazy for me to look back over four years and think about everything we’ve been blessed with.
