And the randomly selected person who’s starting their new year off with prize is… Jennifer (who answered this week’s question with a Canadian folk lyric – which I had to look up, mind you: “Lukey’s boat is painted green, Ha, me boys!”). Congrats Jennifer!
Raise your hand if you know what a bathymetric chart is. I didn’t before this giveaway, but it’s basically like a topographic map for what lies underwater. But the more important thing to know is that the married duo behind Below the Boat turns these charts into gorgeous, laser-cut, hand-assembled works of art. They’re beautifully intricate and fascinatingly detailed. And they’ve got lots of bodies of water from the east coast, west coast, and even some lakes in between. One of you is gonna win up to $300 worth of bathymetric chart-y goodnesst this week. So… ahoy!

BOAT ME! If I ventured out on a boat, it would have to be a big boat. As much as a small sailboat sounds nice, the reality is that I would be a little freaked out about all that water and such little amount of boat. ;)
Eleanor says

I would go canoe or kayak. Giant cruise ships kinda freak me out for some reason! Also, my map loving hubby would LOVE these!
Giordana says
Boat me! I tried a sailing course once, and learned I am not made to operate boats. Even though I do have a motor vehicle operator’s license, which I’ve never used. If I had to be on a boat, it would be someone else’s giant sailboat somewhere in the Mediterranean, with a very capable captain. HAH.

I’m up for almost anything except a cruise. Too many people. But a sailboat vacation sounds lovely.

BOAT ME!!! These maps are so beautiful, absolutely amazing! I live on the coast of southern California, so I venture out on boats all the time, but if I had to choose… it would be a tie. On the one hand, I’d choose a fishing boat because my dad is an avid fisher and some of my best memories are of deep sea fishing with him and his fishing club, the Dark Kings of the Abyss. But, on the other hand, I’ve always wanted to go sailing, and especially learn how to sail, so I’d want to choose a sailboat. I love being out on the water, I couldn’t imagine living far from the ocean.
