Fab Freebie: Tool Time

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

I’m not even going to dance around this one: we’ve got a $200 Home Depot gift card up for grabs.

This week’s stellar prize comes direct from Home Depot themselves as part of their “What’s Your Pro Project” contest. But the good ol’ HD isn’t just asking about your upcoming heavy duty projects, they’re looking to lend a hand too. Thanks to their 1,200 local Tool Rental Centers, you can borrow over 325 professional tools, from power and hand tools to yard, garden and electrical equipment. Sure beats buying that aerator you only use once a year.

homedepottoolrentaldiyer

So if you want a shot at the $200 gift card, first check out their selection of tool rentals and then comment on this post with the phrase “GOTTA GET A [insert name of tool you’d most like to rent].” That’s right, to be eligible for the prize you have to tell us what tool you’d consider renting AND what project you might tackle with it (sorry folks, we’ve gotta be sticklers on this one). For instance, I’ve already been daydreaming about renting a powerwasher to do some heavy duty clean-up on our front porch. Plus, who doesn’t like cleaning and looking like a badass at the same time? If only I could powerwash the dishes…

Alas, we’re not eligible for the prize (soooooo jealous of you guys), but at least we get to hear about all your power tool fantasies and the pro projects you might be tackling soon. Entries will be accepted until Wednesday, March 25th at 8pm EST and the prize is only available to United States residents. The one, randomly selected winner will be announced later in the week. Good luck…

Any other questions you may have are answered in our Giveaway FAQs. Screen grabs courtesy of Home Depot Tool Rental Centers.

GOTTA GET A TILE SAW! We’re building a new townhome this summer and since we couldn’t afford many of the “upgrade” options, we’re going to do the bathroom tile and stone backsplash on the kitchen – by ourselves! For our sanity, we need this tile saw ;-)

Gotta Get a Floor Stapler! My husband and I moved into our cute little starter home last year. Not so cute, however is the stained and overused carpet that we inherited when we bought the home. To add to its charming character, we adopted two dogs that have been kind enough to add some good ole southern red clay to the carpets coloring. In addition to the clay the dogs also add lots of their hair to the carpet, which naturally, carpet seems to cling to dog hair, no matter how often I vacuum, there always seems to be some hair left on the carpet. In light of our carpet conundrum, my husband and I have finally decided that its time to rid our home of the carpet and dive into the DIY world once more and install some hardwoods throughout our home. The hardwoods would be much easier to clean, won’t get stained by clay, and will look oh so much better than our stained carpet. A Floor Stapler, would be an absolute must to have on hand when starting this project. We are hoping to tackle this project in the next few months, hopefully just in time before my parents visit! (I forgot the Gotta Get (oops) so I resubmitted)

Gotta get the airless paint sprayer or the carpet cleaner. I’m buying a house in the hopefully near future, and that could make house painting go so much faster! But my parents carpet could use a major cleaning thanks to a “forgettful” aging kitty.

Gotta get an airless paint sprayer! We are so thrilled to be in our new (first)home but it is seriously lacking curb appeal and new siding is not in the budget. We hope to spruce the place up by giving our shutters and doors a fresh coat of glossy paint. As teachers, we have the whole summer off and I’m secretly hoping that hubby gets inspired and decides to paint the whole house!

    Gotta get a Pressure Washer….
Not to jump on the bandwagon, but the pressure washer would take care of the first step in getting ready to give our house come curb appeal! Our house had belonged to a family member, and then was empty for almost 15 years before we moved in! Our concrete walkway needs cleaning (and then we will be edging it with brick!) The low stone wall in front needs serious cleaning. We don’t want to make any drastic changes at first, but start with clean and brighten, then make additional plans from there! (then we start on the siding and the shutters…..)

Gotta get (and I mean seriously gotta get) a drum sander!

While the rest of our 1930’s house has beautiful original oak hardwoods, our bedroom takes on a log cabin vibe with its very knotty pine floors. A good sanding and a fresh coat of white paint will do wonders!

We are trying to lose the least amount of money possible in this market! Yikes! I’m going to need a house that SPARKLES! *****
