This week’s stellar prize comes direct from Home Depot themselves as part of their “What’s Your Pro Project” contest. But the good ol’ HD isn’t just asking about your upcoming heavy duty projects, they’re looking to lend a hand too. Thanks to their 1,200 local Tool Rental Centers, you can borrow over 325 professional tools, from power and hand tools to yard, garden and electrical equipment. Sure beats buying that aerator you only use once a year.
So if you want a shot at the $200 gift card, first check out their selection of tool rentals and then comment on this post with the phrase “GOTTA GET A [insert name of tool you’d most like to rent].” That’s right, to be eligible for the prize you have to tell us what tool you’d consider renting AND what project you might tackle with it (sorry folks, we’ve gotta be sticklers on this one). For instance, I’ve already been daydreaming about renting a powerwasher to do some heavy duty clean-up on our front porch. Plus, who doesn’t like cleaning and looking like a badass at the same time? If only I could powerwash the dishes…
Alas, we’re not eligible for the prize (soooooo jealous of you guys), but at least we get to hear about all your power tool fantasies and the pro projects you might be tackling soon. Gotta Get A Carpet Cleaner! I’ll be renting it all the time! I used one over the weekend. Less than 48 hours later, an entire glass of milk was dumped on the bedroom carpet! I won’t be crying over spilt milk anymore if I have a Home Depot Gift Card:-)

There are at least two projects on our list that this would come in handy for this summer. For one, we are replacing our mailbox and secondly we are putting up a pole for our misquito zapper. We could use one of these for easy and fast hole digging.

I’ve gotta get a Drum Sander to refinish the hardwood floor hiding under the carpet in our new house. We also need to strip a lot of ugly wallpaper so we can paint, so I was looking for a steamer, but I don’t see on on HD’s website! No matter, we’ll be heading there anyway to get the perforator and stripping solution, so the $200 gift card will be put to good use!

Where to start…the tile saw, post hole digger, or the airless paint sprayer? There are so many projects on our to do list! We have the tile for our kitchen back splash sitting ready to be installed (just waiting on the saw), we hope to install a fence in our yard (which would be so much easier with the digger), and we have a house begging for some color on the walls!

Gotta get a rear tiller!! We are planning on renting one anyway soon, but it would be so nice to be able to get it for free of course! I am planning on ripping up the dozens of flower beds in our yard and laying some fresh sod – saving my back from months and months of weeding!! It might even inspire us to redo the deck… who knows!

This included new drywall in every room…and now everything is COVERED in drywall dust!! Gotta get a carpet cleaner! We live in an apartment, and I know they hire carpet cleaners after each tenant… but really, how good of a job do they do?? I vacuum our bedroom often (thankfully, it’s the only room that has carpet; we’re oh-so-thankful for hardwood flooring in the rest of the apartment!), but it still makes me nervous. I’d love to know the carpet was REALLY clean.

Gotta get a pressure washer! Our townhome is in serious need of pressure washing after Hurricane Ike, especially our garage door. I don’t know if it was the Hurricane or that I just noticed it after, but the mildew now has handprints from having to manually open and close the garage with our hands when we were without power for two weeks! Gross! I tried washing it, but I need something stronger like the pressure washer.

When you don’t have hardwoods, you never really know what’s living in your carpeting. Especially having two cats and light carpeting, I’m sure it could use a deep cleaning.
