This week’s stellar prize comes direct from Home Depot themselves as part of their “What’s Your Pro Project” contest. But the good ol’ HD isn’t just asking about your upcoming heavy duty projects, they’re looking to lend a hand too. Thanks to their 1,200 local Tool Rental Centers, you can borrow over 325 professional tools, from power and hand tools to yard, garden and electrical equipment. Sure beats buying that aerator you only use once a year.
So if you want a shot at the $200 gift card, first check out their selection of tool rentals and then comment on this post with the phrase “GOTTA GET A [insert name of tool you’d most like to rent].” That’s right, to be eligible for the prize you have to tell us what tool you’d consider renting AND what project you might tackle with it (sorry folks, we’ve gotta be sticklers on this one). For instance, I’ve already been daydreaming about renting a powerwasher to do some heavy duty clean-up on our front porch. Plus, who doesn’t like cleaning and looking like a badass at the same time? If only I could powerwash the dishes…

GOTTA GET A Plate Compactor. I have visions of a paver-covered area in our backyard, with an arbor over it. Of course, that would mean finding a relatively level area, clearing away the rock, and REALLY leveling things out, adding sand, and then compacting. All that to get to the paver stage. But I think it would look nice!

I just found out I was accepted into pharmacy school so we’ll be moving in a few weeks from California to Denver. As we’ve gone around the apartment, talking about how to tackle packing it up, we’ve noticed what a number our little dog has done to the carpet. We’ll be shampooing it for sure!!

Gotta get a power washer. The siding and brick on the back of our house is covered in dirt from the old owners’ dogs digging in the back yard. I would love to blast all of that dirt away!

GOTTA GET A PRESSURE WASHER!!! We desperately need to pressure wash our new house! We live with red clay everywhere in the soil and with all the new construction going on, there is so much build-up that we really need to wash our siding. This tool is something my husband really wants, but for the little use it would get, the Home Depot Tool Rental Center is a great resource! We live in a 9 year old house and our guest bathroom is monochrome! Cream tile floor, cream toilet, sink and shower, cream vanity and cream walls! It’s so monochrome I don’t know where to start. The tile floor, the only tile in the bathroom, is 9″ high gloss tile, meant to look like stone (FAIL!) so we’re talking about ripping it out. (We already removed the same tile from our kitchen but we put in hard wood in there).

Gotta Get An Airless Paint Sprayer! We just moved into our first home — a new subdivision construction home. It’s great, but we could only choose one paint color for all the rooms. While we love the color, after being here for 5 months, it’s time to mix things up a bit. We’re settled, our furniture has all found permanent homes, so we really need to give each room some personality. Renting this paint sprayer would really help out, especially with the vaulted ceilings we have! I don’t want to be the next Michaelangelo here… so I really hope we win this one!

Gotta get a floor maintainer!!! I hate our hardwood floor. I mean, it’s beautiful, but whoever installed it didn’t put a thick finish on it, so it’s always dull, even when we put refinishers on it. I’d like to sand it and apply a heavier varnish on it.

Gotta have an airless paint sprayer! Our master bedroom is huge (HUGE) with vaulted ceilings which I normally love, but it’s actually big enough where it would be less work to prep for spraying than paint it all with a roller.
