How excited are we to be giving away a Model One Radio this week? You probably know that our cheery yellow one is one of our favorite things that we’ve bought for our new kitchen (more on that here). Sure it’s been dubbed “the best sounding table radio ever made” by some (MSNBC in this case), but our love for it stems first and foremost from its looks. It’s one good looking radio. But that’s not to say that we don’t crank up the radio (or an iPod playlist thanks to the auxiliary input in the back) and enjoy a family dance party every now and then…

I love to listen to NPR or classical (before I moved out of range of the classical stations) in the morning and something peppy after work. I also love to listen to something fun while I craft, clean, or cook.

Radio Me! We moved into our first house 9 days ago and music has been saving us in the insanity of boxes, shelf liners and assembling furniture. Johnny Cash, Reel Big Fish, Cake, and even President’s of the United States have been blaring in this corner of the cal de sac. The neighbors still don’t know what to think of us.

We’re lucky to have one of the best classical music stations in the world, Classic KING 98.1 FM, so I play that most of the time at home as well as in the car to help soothe me in the notorious Seattle traffic. We live in a bit of a signal shadow, so I’m doubly thankful that it comes in so clearly. Except on Saturdays, which is opera day. Then I’m sad.

In the house I listen to the SIRIUS music channels that are part of my satellite package — mostly The Spectrum, but also 70s/80s/90s/00s and Symphony Hall — traditional classical — on Saturdays & Sundays.
In my car I listen to the SIRIUS talk channels, mostly NPR Now and POTUS. Also a little Martha Stewart as well. Although while driving at night, I listen to music on the channels above.
