Fab Freebie: Straight From The Art

This week’s giveaway comes from a site that so chock full o’ good stuff that it was a challenge to hone in on the perfect freebie items for this week. We’re talking about Artful Home, a virtual window into over a thousand artists’ studios that gives you access to 12,000+ original art pieces – from wall art and sculpture to furniture and accessories. It’s kinda like Etsy, but contributing artists are all professionals who are selected by a panel of art adjudicators.

So we sifted through the site and fell in love with several pillows and, since we couldn’t settle on just one, we’re letting this week’s lucky winner choose from the four pillows shown below: the nature-inspired linen pillows by Mariah Wren or the graphic, eye-chart pillow by Heather Lins. I know, tough decision, eh?

    I HEART ART!

    Right now my favorite is a an original photograph my BIL took. A close up of the side of a rusted boat – so more of an abstract of different shades of blue and rusty reds/oranges. . . ..and as soon as I get my hands on a different one he took of a woman hanging clothes up on a line in Nepal *that* will be my fav. :)

    i really love this giant fleur de lis i made out of mardi gras beads and a TON of hot glue when i was in college down in new orleans– not only is it beautiful, but it reminds me of all good times of college without being a giant pennant or some such…

    I heart art! My favorite pieces of art are 3 original paintings my husband and I bought from a street artist in a piazza in Rome on our honeymoon. They are one of a kind, beautiful water colors and the painter was incredibly nice to us lowly tourists – he gave us one piece for free!

    I HEART ART! I’m not sure if I’d consider it art, but my favorite piece in the house is a photo of my dog. I took the pic while she was lying in the grass and all you see is a big nose and whiskers :)

    My favorite piece of art in our home is a piece by Josh Simpson. He does amazing things with blown glass, and we have one of his “planets” (http://www.joshsimpson.com/store/home.php?cat=3) which are intricately layered blown glass along with other materials. He’s incredibly talented. Our piece is full of amazing details and it’s always a conversation starter. Everyone always picks it up and turns it every way to see all the details.

    I Heart Art……
    My favorite piece of art would have to be the 4 canvus that my Hubby and I made when we were first married. We couldn’t find anything we loved to go with our blue/brown living room. So we decided to make our own. Armed with some paint, brushes and canvus from the local craft store we’ve created 4 unique pieces that hang over the couch now. They are awesome, and we get lots of compliments from people. It’s really fun knowing we made them together.

    My favorite piece of art currently in our home is: an old postcard my brother in law found in Austin, TX. It’s a photograph of the hotel where my husband and I got married in Missouri.

    I love my black and white photos that we took on various vacations and we have them framed around the house. One of my favorites is a picture of the sign for a Sonoma vineyard where we got engaged.

    I HEART ART and this typography piece i did. i created it in photoshop and i’m having it printed on canvas. it’s a bunch of the streets and neighborhoods of st. louis.

    My favorite piece of art (currently) is my painting of a Masai Woman with a young child. It was painted, on a piece of a sheet, by a Kenyan native. I’m also very partial to a piece of cross stitch my mother made for me for our wedding.

    My favorite piece of art right now is the bird mobile I made for my daughter’s nursery. I used the Spool pattern seen around blog world quite often and created it with lots of differnt vintage fabrics.

    I HEART ART! I’m in the process of making art out of some sand dollars from the beach. I got the idea from Katie at AllBowerPower. I have a feeling that will become my favorite art in our house…especially since it’ll be the ONlY art in our home so far…

    I HEART ART!
    My favorite piece of art is a large portrait of my late grandmother done with charcoals and oil pastels, made when she was 18 and in a play in New York. She is in full costume and has rouge on her cheeks and lips. When she died, I received it, which makes it all the more special. It’s currently in a very ornate, gilded frame (not my style at all!), but I think it will look great once I re-frame it either in glossy black or a simple white frame.

    I heart art the most favoirte pieces of art currently at home are two wooden z gallerie ballerinas although i got them for my moms bday and will have to give them in october they are a centerpiese in the livingroom as for now

    My favorite piece of art is a set of 6 black and white pictures that I took over the past few years. All of the pictures are of my favorite places to spend family vacations as a child – mostly of my grandparents’ farm town.

    This is totally dorky but my favorite art is a set of three 5×5 paintings of my pets – a wedding gift painted by my office mate. They really capture their cute personalities and make me smile everytime I see them!

    I HEART ART!!! My favorite piece of art is an old framed photograph of my fiance with his great-grandfather when Sean (my fiance) was just a year old. Its such a timeless and meaningful photograph and really helps me to appreciate the value of pictures.

    my favorite piece of art is a $20 flea market find. it’s a huge framed piece of the ny city skyline in golds and browns, and looks very 70’s retro.

    My favorite art in our house is a set of nine black 8 X 10 frames that I used to mount cutouts of some of my favorite people in history- from Gandhi to Einstein to Simon de Beauvoir. They’re simple and fun, and a great conversation piece for everyone who enters our house for the first time.

    My favorite is an oil painting of Louis Armstrong which my husband did back in college. Very soulful.
