Fab Freebie: Straight From The Art

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week’s giveaway comes from a site that so chock full o’ good stuff that it was a challenge to hone in on the perfect freebie items for this week. We’re talking about Artful Home, a virtual window into over a thousand artists’ studios that gives you access to 12,000+ original art pieces – from wall art and sculpture to furniture and accessories. It’s kinda like Etsy, but contributing artists are all professionals who are selected by a panel of art adjudicators.

ArtfulHomeHomepage

So we sifted through the site and fell in love with several pillows and, since we couldn’t settle on just one, we’re letting this week’s lucky winner choose from the four pillows shown below: the nature-inspired linen pillows by Mariah Wren or the graphic, eye-chart pillow by Heather Lins. I know, tough decision, eh?

ArtfulHomePillows

  • PRIZE: Your choice of one of the four pillows shown above (valued at $90 – $95).
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the phrase “I HEART ART” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us your favorite piece of art currently in your home, whether it’s a piece of fine art made by a professional or fun art made by a preschooler.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSED: Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One and only one this week.
  • ELIGIBILITY: The prize ships to anywhere in the US and Canada.
  • THE USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I HEART ART. We have this crazy bad painting over our fireplace — the perspective just isn’t right so it looks like the vases and plates are floating. With that said, I appreciate the attempt at such a large piece that someone made and I love the colors. It pulls our room together even though it’s weird!

I heart art! My favorite piece is a huge wooden sunflower made by a local artist named Roy Villereal. It’s very intricate, full of tiny wooden pieces and was hanging in my hairdresser’s shop. I had to have it!

My favorite piece of art is a black and white woodcut print that my dad did in college. It’s of a damselfly. It’s so beautiful and I can’t believe that my dad did it, and every time I see it I love him so much more for being such a talented guy.

I heart art! Currently, my favorite piece of “art” in my house is in our new baby’s nursery and is this – http://www.wallwords.com/proddetail.asp?prod=WD-42 in dark brown. These trees are amazing, and they add an organic feel to an otherwise girly pink room.

I heart art!!! My favorite piece of art is a 25$ flea market painting that my husband purchased for me. It is an oil of some brightly colored flowers(gerbera daisies, gladiolas and some other flowers in an asian looking pot. It’s very old and I love it because the colors make me smile when I look at it.

I HEART ART! Being that we’re in a housing transition, my favorite piece of art currently displayed in our apartment is a recycled glass wine jug that I rescued from the recycling bin at Sayulita Trailer Park in Mexico! With a little elbow grease I removed the labels and now the pretty aqua color complements our dark wood coffee table. The best part is that it was completely free!

I HEART ART! My favorite piece of art is a metalwork piece my father created from cast-off horse shoes (from my own horses) and farrier’s nails. Its a shamrock shape, and it makes me smile everytime I see it, simply because those are my pony’s shoes and my father made it!

My favorite piece of art in our home is an original Charley Harper lithograph called “The Crane.” My husband and I love Charley Harper and for your first anniversary you are supposed to give paper as the gift so I gave him that :) Technically it’s HIS art, but I love it just as much!

I heart art. For our 2nd anniversary (cotton), we got a piece of art on a cotton canvas. It is a painting of a small dirt road going back to an orange grove. We live in Central Florida and it reminds me of my days on the school bus traveling to school.

I HEART ART. As an art major in college, I like a lot of what we have in our new house-although none of it is up on the walls yet. But I recently made my first etsy purchase of a small 8×10 canvas depicting Finland on a stick. My husband is half Finnish and it really struck a quirky cord in our hearts. Just the continents perched on a thin line. Like at the state fair :)

My favorite piece or art in our home…hmm…it would have to be this painting of a cat that my husbands grandmother painted years and years ago. When I say it is my favorite it is not because it is beautiful and inspiring but because of what it is…it is so hideous that my MIL pawned it off on me…everyone feels to guilty to throw it away! meeeow!
