This week’s giveaway comes from a site that so chock full o’ good stuff that it was a challenge to hone in on the perfect freebie items for this week. We’re talking about Artful Home, a virtual window into over a thousand artists’ studios that gives you access to 12,000+ original art pieces – from wall art and sculpture to furniture and accessories. It’s kinda like Etsy, but contributing artists are all professionals who are selected by a panel of art adjudicators.
So we sifted through the site and fell in love with several pillows and, since we couldn’t settle on just one, we’re letting this week’s lucky winner choose from the four pillows shown below: the nature-inspired linen pillows by Mariah Wren or the graphic, eye-chart pillow by Heather Lins. I know, tough decision, eh?

My favorite work of art is a chalk pastel dancer my hubby drew for me in college (in the style of Degas). It was hastily done for one of his studio classes, but has had a home in our bedroom for our 5 years of marriage.

My favorite piece is hanging on the door to my 11 month old’s bedroom. It’s just a piece of plain, white, printer paper with his name stamped on it. Why is that my favorite? Because it was made with love by my older (4 year old) son, using his birthday present–a stamp set with all the letters of the alphabet in upper and lower case letters. I helped him with it, and when we were done I hung it on the door. He looked at it, and whispered reverentially, “that looks really good right there!” So, every time I look at this simple piece of paper, I am reminded of the time I spent with him, and his pride in creating something. Simple, but beautiful to me!!

I collect lots of art, but my favorite piece that is currently in my home is a woodburning that I have done as a gift for my children. It is called “Safe Keeping”. I started the piece when I was pregnant with my daughter (I hadn’t yet known that I was pregnant at the time) and the total burn time was about 40 hours, it is an 8×10. My favorite piece of art is a Bill Mack original,called Whisper . The hubs and I purchased it right after we got married. We had shopped at a local art store the day before and then the next day we went back and got it. We ordered it as we were leaving town to go on our honeymoon.

My favorite piece of art currently in my home is a small oli painting of a daisy that I purchased at the Minneapolis Art-a-Whirl this year. It was inexpensive and yet so, so lovely that I want to go back next year and buy a larger piece by the same artist.

My favorite piece of art in my house right now is a watercolor painting that my daughter just did. It is of a frog sitting on a lily pad. The colors are bright and beautiful and she just free-handed it right out of her imagination and it is amazing! (not that I am biased at all!)

My favorite piece of art in my house are these little plaques I bought on clearance at Target. I bought five of them for $7.50 and hung them on the soffit in my living room. They’re black and white, and my living room walls are this pewter grey, so it looks really classy.

My favorite piece of art currently is the door to my bedroom. I drew a grid on the door and each box has a hand drawn picture of something I like. It ranges from a butterfly to a palm tree on the beach. In the center it says “Do Something Creative Everyday”.

My favorite piece of art is from the home studio collection from JC Penny. It is 3 canvas prints that we have hung above our fire place. They all connect but we placed them about 3 inches apart. They are tan with white branches.
