This week’s giveaway comes from a site that so chock full o’ good stuff that it was a challenge to hone in on the perfect freebie items for this week. We’re talking about Artful Home, a virtual window into over a thousand artists’ studios that gives you access to 12,000+ original art pieces – from wall art and sculpture to furniture and accessories. It’s kinda like Etsy, but contributing artists are all professionals who are selected by a panel of art adjudicators.
So we sifted through the site and fell in love with several pillows and, since we couldn’t settle on just one, we’re letting this week’s lucky winner choose from the four pillows shown below: the nature-inspired linen pillows by Mariah Wren or the graphic, eye-chart pillow by Heather Lins. I know, tough decision, eh?

My favorite piece of art in my home is a photograph that was taken by one of my best friends. It was taken at a Cirque de Soleil show and she had to be really stealth about it since there was no photography allowed. She’s an amazing photographer and she truly captured the magic of a Cirque show. I love it, and it reminds me of my lovely friend (who has since moved far far away…sniff sniff).

I HEART ART! My favorite piece of art has to be a photograph I took when I was in Santa Monica. The sun was setting, and the birds look like they are flying directly into the sun. I framed and matted it myself (even attempted to cut my own mat!) and hung it above my bed with some picture wire that is actually too long so it looks like the picture is being held by a string. I just really like that picture, which is why it’s my favorite!

Bonus Q: My favourite piece in our home right now is a sweet little original oil-on-canvas of the Eiffel Tower that my husband bought on a family trip to Paris as a preteen. We found it in a box of junk in his parents’ attic and promptly hung it in our main hallway. I think his mom was a little miffed that we found it and squirreled it away, because if she’d found it first, you can bet she would have hung it in her house!

My fave piece is a large original oil landscape by a local artist. She passed away several years ago and I noticed the piece at a local cafe. I asked if it was for sale, and they said “Not really, but the owner might consider it.” The owner came out. She said they brought a bunch of stuff up from the basement when they moved in, and the painting was there. I offered $50 and now it’s lit by a sleek art light in my living room, getting the appreciation it deserved all along.

My favorite piece of art is a piece my good friend, Brandon painted. My old roommate and her boyfriend bought the supplies and Brandon painted this simple yet beautiful piece with a light blue background and a paper red heart of some sort applied on top to add some dimension. It was a moving present since I was moving away for a job and it reminds me of home every time.

My favorite piece of art actually consists of 4 small framed pieces in my bedroom. I wanted some simple prints and (with some inspiration taken from your website) decided to make them myself since I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for. I bought some fern stencils, brown paint, scrapbook paper, and simple brown frames and spent about 10 minutes making exactly what I had pictured in my mind. I’m still really proud of them and they look great in the bedroom.

I heart art! My favorite piece of art in my home is a paiting done by my mother-in-law. She is a very talented painter with probably close to one hundred works but gives them all away to family. We’re lucky to have two in our home and my favorite is one of a sunset in the mountains. We had it professionally framed last year and it hangs proudly in our living room.
