Fab Freebie: Straight From The Art

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week’s giveaway comes from a site that so chock full o’ good stuff that it was a challenge to hone in on the perfect freebie items for this week. We’re talking about Artful Home, a virtual window into over a thousand artists’ studios that gives you access to 12,000+ original art pieces – from wall art and sculpture to furniture and accessories. It’s kinda like Etsy, but contributing artists are all professionals who are selected by a panel of art adjudicators.

ArtfulHomeHomepage

So we sifted through the site and fell in love with several pillows and, since we couldn’t settle on just one, we’re letting this week’s lucky winner choose from the four pillows shown below: the nature-inspired linen pillows by Mariah Wren or the graphic, eye-chart pillow by Heather Lins. I know, tough decision, eh?

ArtfulHomePillows

  • PRIZE: Your choice of one of the four pillows shown above (valued at $90 – $95).
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the phrase “I HEART ART” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us your favorite piece of art currently in your home, whether it’s a piece of fine art made by a professional or fun art made by a preschooler.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSED: Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One and only one this week.
  • ELIGIBILITY: The prize ships to anywhere in the US and Canada.
  • THE USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    I HEART ART!

My favorite piece of art in our house is the painting my fiance’s late father drew. It’s close to my fiance’s heart so it’s close to mine. It’s beautiful too!

I heart art! We love original art in our home, and I have several pieces that I love. The oil painting over our bed is a scene of the harbour at Honfleur, France. I spotted it on the internet several years ago because I recognized the scene–we had been there, So I am reminded every day of that wonderful trip!

    I HEART ART!!!

My favorite piece of art is one I picked up from Union Square while temporarily working in NYC. I had never been to the city (Southernbell that I am) and this piece caught my eye with the NYC skyline in red and white! Many memories of my great timie in the Big Apple!

    I HEART ART!

I bought my favourite piece of art (a print) on the Esplanade in St.Kilda, Melbourne in 2001. My husband is from Melbourne, and it was our first and only trip back to see his family. (Sigh …) The painting is by Marek Wilinksi, and it’s a picture of a woman wearing a bright pink/purple turtleneck, standing at an angle. She has really wonky eyes, too. I can’t tell you why I love it so much, but I really, really do — and it’s going to be my inspiration when I finally fix our living room up. :)

I heart art and this site! I’ve been looking for exactly this for some inspiration on our giant, blank walls in our master bedroom. My favorite piece of art is our “Three Rivers” print that our artist friend gave us for our weddding (www.glennblue.com). He gave us the first print, framed, and it is my favorite wedding gift.

My fave works are photo prints that I picked up in Camden Town London for super cheap (5 15×30 inches sepia tone prints for 9 quid). Had them properly mounted to hang in my house. An they match the 4×4 sepia photos I picked up in Edinburgh of the Scottish highlands.

I heart art! My favorite piece in our house is something that was supposed to be temporary. We got a nice piece of wrapping paper and put it in a frame with matting intended for about 16 4×6 photos. What was supposed to be temporary is now permanent and one of our favorite pieces!

My then six year old namesake decorated a picture frame for me as a wedding gift. It is covered in foam stickers of hearts, cake toppers, champagne flutes, etc. and is by far my favorite piece of art in the house! It may not be sophisticated, but this work of art makes me smile every time I walk by it.
