This week’s giveaway comes from a site that so chock full o’ good stuff that it was a challenge to hone in on the perfect freebie items for this week. We’re talking about Artful Home, a virtual window into over a thousand artists’ studios that gives you access to 12,000+ original art pieces – from wall art and sculpture to furniture and accessories. It’s kinda like Etsy, but contributing artists are all professionals who are selected by a panel of art adjudicators.
So we sifted through the site and fell in love with several pillows and, since we couldn’t settle on just one, we’re letting this week’s lucky winner choose from the four pillows shown below: the nature-inspired linen pillows by Mariah Wren or the graphic, eye-chart pillow by Heather Lins. I know, tough decision, eh?

“I heart art.” Well we have paintings in our home painted by my brother-in-law, my husband, and by me. I think I love some of the photos we have taken the best though. I need to get more of them hung on the wall.

My favorite piece of art in my house would have to be the framed drafting excercises my great-grandfather did in 1922 as a civil engineer straight out of NCSU. As an architect (and alum of NCSU myself) it feels wonderful to have such a strong connection to a man I hardly got the chance to know.

My favorite piece is a dishtowel I picked up on a high school trip to France. It depicts a portion of the Bayeux Tapestry. (That's the reeeeally long one that shows the Norman Conquest and is panned over during the opening credits of "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.") Several years ago, my mother 'borrowed' it and had it professionally framed for us. It's gorgeous and always has a place of honor in our home – a dishtowel! Who knew?

I HEART ART My favorite piece of art is the painting that I have in my dining area by Millard Sheets. It is a pastoral California scene of cows, but it is in bright colors that really stand out next to my oak antique dining table and sideboard. It was my first real art purchase and I treasure it!

My favorite piece of art is a oil painting my childhood friend painted for our 10 year anniversary. It’s a Italian villa scene and it’s the first thing you see when you walk in my front door. It always makes me feel calm and relaxed when I see it. It also reminds me that I’m very lucky to have such a great friend, who is also very talented!
