Fab Freebie: So Haute In Here

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

Who doesn’t love a sale? Especially when it’s to the tune of 50-75% off retail. Well that’s exactly how HauteLook rolls when it comes to creating 48-hour deeply discounted sales on home items (as well as clothing and beauty stuff too). A new sale pops up every morning at 11am EST, but here’s a sampling of what was up for grabs last week:

Hautelook Tiles

And one of you is gonna get $100 to spend on HauteLook this week, meaning you could snag items like an $850 graphic rug for just 80 bucks out of your own pocket. Not too shabby…

Hautelook Rugs

Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything on HauteLook.="nofollow">
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’M HAUTE” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about the all-time best deal you’ve ever scored. Was it an incredible sale that landed you a deep discount? Or maybe you bartered your way to something for free?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 20th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

This giveaway’s random winner is… Valerie J (who’s scored a $4000 Restoration Hardware armoire for only $315 just because the top crown molding was busted). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from HauteLook.

    I’m Haute!

I haggled my way through the hutongs in China and got a lot of cheap stuff! Haggling works in other countries but sadly not as much here.

i’m haute! and i’ve been scoring discounts since a young age. from bartering in jamaican flea shops for that adorable knitted hat with yarn dreadlocks for the baby brother at age eight, to searching through the terribly messy stacks of shoes in the nyc urban outfitters to snag a $5 pair of leather moccasins when in high school, through surfing the web and getting $100 dollars off my dsw boots last week, i’ve always been the deal finder in the family. i also scored some tory burch $200 flats for 70 bucks once, that’s the deal of the century!

I’ve convinced myself that nothing “want” based is worth buying unless it’s on sale or I have a coupon (or both!). It’s helped make those purchases more fun to hunt for and less damaging to the budget.

Anthropologie is typically way out of my price range. But one day i was looking around for fun and found a single sale dress. My size! It was marked down from around $200 to $40. Then when I went to check out, it rung up additional 50% off! So I only paid slightly over $20! Huge score.

    I’M HAUTE!

My mom is a super couponer for groceries and drug store products, and I think we were all shocked when we went into the grocery store one night and she got the $398.42 bill down to -$0.25 (that’s right, the cashier ended up having to pay HER!) Not to mention she ended up working out a deal where she bought 38 Tombstone frozen pizzas and NIPSCO had to pay $15 of our next electric bill. (My dad and I basically ate pizza for a year…and it was a good thing she did the deal at Jewel Osco where they give you a free deep freezer when you buy $150 of meat).

I’M HAUTE… because right after my husband and I got married we went to a local antique shop with only $125 cash and scored a chic old wall mirror, an antique oak serpintine dresser, cool porceline topped side table, 6 dessert plates and 4 vintage sconces for the cash we had on us.. just $125! We grouped everything we wanted which per price stickers totalled about $425..and made the guy an offer with what we had and he called it the “newly-wed special” :)
