Fab Freebie: So Haute In Here

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

Who doesn’t love a sale? Especially when it’s to the tune of 50-75% off retail. Well that’s exactly how HauteLook rolls when it comes to creating 48-hour deeply discounted sales on home items (as well as clothing and beauty stuff too). A new sale pops up every morning at 11am EST, but here’s a sampling of what was up for grabs last week:

Hautelook Tiles

And one of you is gonna get $100 to spend on HauteLook this week, meaning you could snag items like an $850 graphic rug for just 80 bucks out of your own pocket. Not too shabby…

Hautelook Rugs

Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything on HauteLook.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’M HAUTE” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about the all-time best deal you’ve ever scored. Was it an incredible sale that landed you a deep discount? Or maybe you bartered your way to something for free?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 20th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

This giveaway’s random winner is… Valerie J (who’s scored a $4000 Restoration Hardware armoire for only $315 just because the top crown molding was busted). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from HauteLook.

I’m Haute — my most recent great deal was a silver lamp that I found on a clearance table for $9.99 (which I loved and immediately bought) and 3 days later I saw the exact lamp priced at $59.99. I love a great deal!

Got a party dress from Macy’s for 40% off because the sales lady thought it was too pretty not to send home with me (I was hesitating to pay full price for it) The money I saved on the dress meant I could also buy new shoes – score! =)

Hmm, best deal…selling a desk I’d bought new for $50 on craigslist for the same price after I used it for a couple years was pretty good! My husband and I are pro craigslisters :) I think the only thing we’ve ever bought new was our mattress!

I’m HAUTE! I once got sunglasses at Banana Republic Outlet for $1.97. Ohhh, and, I recently scored some FAB-U-LOUS counter stools on Craigslist for a total of $15, but I SOLD our old barstools for $21 at a garage sale! New stools never felt so good!

I’M HAUTE! Best score ever was an antique looking elephant lamp. I am no expert on materials or anything, so I have no idea what it’s made of, but it’s heavy. And I’m sure the original buyer paid more than $10 for it like I did.

My greatest score (and most recent, so I’m still very excited) was not home related at all. It was my appendectomy. I know, free surgery sounds scary, but it just happens that there are many hospitals out there that are willing to take pity on unfortunate souls (such as myself) that have medical insurance, but are still unable to cover the remaining cost of their medical expenses. All you have to do is fill out the right paper work. It’s not pretty and it’s not fun, but it’s probably the best deal around.

Right after college I was able to furnish my entire living room for $250 by catching a guy who was desperate to sell his brand new furniture on craigslist. He had just been transferred to NY and had a week to move and pretty much gave everything to me.

I found my mid-century Heywood-Wakefield desk and chair for $120. I sanded and painted the top (it was a little rough looking) with a sample size jar of paint for $3 and had the seat cushion replaced and upholstered for $80. $203 for a perfect place for me to sit and write graduate school essays. Which is what I should be doing now.

One of my favorite deals is that I always buy my Apple computers refurbished from their online store. You save a few hundred bucks, they are like new, and you can get the EXACT same warranty as you do with a new one. I’ve done this with my macbook and my iMac, and both computers have been amazing.
