I’m always trying to get/find a good deal. One funny story is I found a cute lamp at a garage sale with an ugly shade, but found at the same garage sale a shade that would be perfect. Both items were priced at $2 each. I paired the two together and asked if I could get the lamp and shade for $3. There were two ladies there and they said, “Well, no because the lamp is hers and the shade is mine” (joint garage sale). But then they both said they would take a dollar for their item. So I got a fabulous lamp for $2! (It’s not often people offer less than what you are offering, haha)

I’m Haute!! I got an antique sewing table at an antique mall for 24$ and recently found out it was worth close to $300 or maybe more. It was in a stand that said 60% off – and I wanted it for my wedding. That was a Haute deal! ;-)

I score lots of good deals when thrifting to outfit my house. A few:

    * Two brand-new Italian pillow shams (with tags) from Williams-Sonoma for $2.99 (at Goodwill)

    * Pair of chrome cylinder lamps (like those often seen in the late Domino magazine) for $70 (at a local vintage store)

    * A limited edition framed print for $20 at an estate sale:

    http://www.palindromehome.com/2010/09/16/36-estate-of-success/

When I researched it, the galleries that sell that photographer’s work all have “Contact us for price,” which generally means expensive.

I’M HAUTE! I’m definitely a scavenger for good deals. I remember getting an oh-so-gorge lamp from Goodwill and later as I was perusing Horchow, saw it for 50x the amount I paid. That’s 5000%!! Very rarely do I purchase something that I haven’t done research on if I’m paying full price, but generally I pay much less. Craigslist first, clearance centers second, wait it out, and then purchase full price (but hopefully with a coupon).

I’m Haute..and there are too many deals to count on Craigs List but probably our best two were a complete Pier 1 bedroom set for 300 which would have been over 1500 retail and a Ikea dining room set with sideboard for about 400 which would have been over 700!

Good luck with your home sale!

“I’M HAUTE” – the best deal I ever scored is a tie between the huge mirror from Marshalls for $13 with a few scratches in the frame (which I repainted white and no one is the wiser) or the super cute framed print (also from Marshalls) for 70 cents that is now in my laundry room.
