Who doesn’t love a sale? Especially when it’s to the tune of 50-75% off retail. Well that’s exactly how HauteLook rolls when it comes to creating 48-hour deeply discounted sales on home items (as well as clothing and beauty stuff too). A new sale pops up every morning at 11am EST, but here’s a sampling of what was up for grabs last week:

Hautelook Tiles

And one of you is gonna get $100 to spend on HauteLook this week, meaning you could snag items like an $850 graphic rug for just 80 bucks out of your own pocket. Not too shabby…

Hautelook Rugs

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything on HauteLook.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’M HAUTE” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about the all-time best deal you’ve ever scored. Was it an incredible sale that landed you a deep discount? Or maybe you bartered your way to something for free?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 20th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

This giveaway’s random winner is… Valerie J (who’s scored a $4000 Restoration Hardware armoire for only $315 just because the top crown molding was busted). Congrats!

I’m Haute!!! I think the best deal I ever got was not on a home-related item. It was a pair of leather Gap sandals for my son. They were on clearance for $1.99, but when I got to the register, they only rang up as 99 cents! It was awesome…

I’m haute! I am not sure about the best deal I ever got, but the best deal I passed up and will never forgive myself for was a set of wedgwood at their factory store in england. I could have gotten place settings, overstocks not seconds, for 10 and serving dishes for less than $200, but I was pressed for time and couldn’t figure out how to get it all back to the states.

The best deal I’ve ever scored was our house. We bought it for the exact same price the owner paid for it when she purchased the house five years ago, and it was already almost exactly the way we wanted it – not too much we wanted to change. Plus, we got the $8,000 tax credit too, so that’s not too shabby.

I’M HAUTE and I am a deal-scorer to the extreme (read: I routinely sell things I bought on Craigslist for more than I bought them for). But probably the best deal I ever scored was my grandmother’s amazing New England dining set that is in top-notch condition, not granny-fied, and was TOTALLY FREE. Can’t beat free….

The best deals I find are generally from thrifting and DIY-ing. Craigslist is awesome and recently I’ve been able to get items FOR free on the side of the road and with a little elbow grease … it’s better than it was before!

Online and actual spending wise: Best deals, I’ve found, are always end of holiday season sales racks – there’s always a surprise in there.

I love that site! Probably the best deal I’ve snagged lately was when I made two window seat cushions for our house. I used a JoAnn’s coupon to get foam for half price and shipped free to our home. Also used a coupon for tonic living to purchase the fabric. I bought plywood at Home Depot and had all other supplies on hand. Each window seat cost about $35! I shudder to think what I spent on our other cushions made by Calico Corners…

I don’t know if this counts as the best deal EVER, but I recently scored a groupon to the Gap for $50 of clothes for $25. Then on Columbus Day they had a 40% off everything in the store sale. I hit the sales rack at babyGap (though I couldn’t resist a full priced sweater) and got four dresses and a sweater for my 3 year old for the original $25. And 3 cents.

I once scored a mint condition mid-century modern bedroom suite (headboard, bed frame, dresser, chest of drawers & nightstand) off of Craigslist for $300–for all of it. And to top it all off, the seller was super cool and even turned down 2 interested buyers before me because they were dealers and wanted to turn a profit. I assured him they would put to good use at my house! :)
