I got my dining room table and chairs by trading a box of my leftover wedding decorations. She had the same colors as me, and I needed a dining set. (and since she would me moving in with her hubby, wouldn’t need her’s anymore!)
After staining the top, and painting the legs and chairs (paint and stain I already had). I ended up with a beautiful table and chairs for FREE!

Best deal was just scored a few weekends ago. I’ve been dying for a antique bust for ages now – I’m going for a “well-curated” look in our home and they just scream old library/reading rooms to me. However, they can be really pricey and I didn’t want to break the bank.

Enter our local monthly antique fair where I scored a gorgeous 1920’s alabaster bust of a woman (we’ve named her Astrid) for only $200! We not only managed to get the vendor to knock down the price $25, but then went home and checked out eBay for similar pieces and found they were going for $500-700! Talk about a steal!

$20 for a snowblower at a tag sale – the guy had only used it three times. It was a smaller not so heavy-duty one. The starter cord broke so we had to bring it back to Lowe’s to see if they could fix it and they gave us a $400 credit, so we threw in another $100 and bought a big ole orange one. $375 discount. – i’ll take it!

Last summer I went to our church rummage sale on the last day about an hour before closing. They had Trader Joe’s bags when you walked in with a sign that said “As much as you can stuff in a bag for $3”. I stuffed two bags full of cool vases, containers, old books, and other things that had super potential! The best were these old cruddy plastic urns…a lick of black spray paint and some beautiful dried hydrangeas from the garden and now they’re GORGEOUS!

The best deal I’ve ever gotten was my house… It was a foreclosure with an insane amount of work needed just to move in. It didn’t feel like the best deal at the time with all of the repairs and renovations we had to do, but I’m grateful now.

Best deal I can remember was several years back. I was shopping at New York and Company and found a nice leather jacket. It was originally something like $120+, but it was on sale and I had some kind of crazy coupon and ended up getting it for something like $30. I was so bummed it was stolen from my car a few years later. I replaced it with something similar, but I don’t love it as much because it cost more.

The best deal – goodness that’s hard – but I’ll say that it was my precious black and white vintage German coffee set from the 60s. Thrifted – which is the main source for all my favorite bargains.
Actually, the best bargain was when an artist friend used images from our wedding in a series of paintings and ended up giving us a big (3’x4′-ish) one that had us in the corner which was originally $1200. We ended up buying a smaller piece that we really loved, too, because it just felt wrong to get such a great piece for free.
