The best deal I’ve scored was my living room couch. It was originally $1,000 but I found it at a consignment store for $300 with a big mark on one of thethe leather cushions. I loved it so I figured I’d make an offer and try to clean the mark off (or use a strategically placed throw to cover it). I offered $150, and they countered $200. Sold! Best part – I asked an expert, cleaned the cushion, and the mark is completely gone. Yesssss.

The best deal I can think of was scoring my Parsons desk in a discontinued color from West Elm http://www.westelm.com/products/parsons-desk-with-drawers-f099/?pkey=coffice-desks for $99. I also got a super-awesome rug from there for $49! I also got a Pier One dining table and two chairs from a friend for free. I painted it red.

I’m haute! My best deals were found at bed bath and beyond when we returned some wedding gifts and exchanged them for other things. I guess it wasn’t necessarily a good deal – but it wasn’t our money so it was awesome!

When we bought our house about 2 years ago, it had a FABULOUS front-load washer and dryer system…that the owners took with them! Since we weren’t expecting this, and didn’t have the cashola to get a new, beautiful set, we appealed to a family friend who routinely scores big from Menards – he shops the “trade-in” section. There’s one store near home that sells all the stuff that people had them cart away when they got their new appliances, and all at a DEEP discount. He got us our washer and dryer (a non-matched and older-but-still-running-well set) for a total of $25. Which is still working today. Proud of that score!

The best deal I ever got wasn’t a home decor product… I recently got a 1994 Honda Accord with 60,000 miles for $50! It runs perfectly and the only thing we had to do was replace the brakes! Someone was getting rid of his car and I asked if I could buy it–he said sure, $50! AMAZING!

The local couture clothing store donated all of their previous season’s clothes to a fundraiser for domestic violence awareness! I went to the fundraiser during the final hour where they were doing a promotion to fill up a shopping bag for just $75! I got 76 pieces of brand new super fabulous clothes for just $75. NO KIDDING. Best deal ever!!!
