Once we had a baby, we needed a pull-out sofa to accommodate all the visits from the grandparents. We couldn’t really find anything that we liked that was in our price range. Then we decided to find out if we could buy a floor model from Crate and Barrel. As it turns out, they will sell you floor models during their sales. We waited for the sale, phoned around to local stores to find out when one would be available (they are often a result of returns) and snatched up the first one that came along–at 50% off the regular price. Yeehaw!

I’m HAUTE, and one of the best deals I got was a $35 entry/sofa table on Craigslist that was originally from Pier One and well over $400! In perfect shape, with two drawers and a bottom shelf, in a light wood color.

I have to say the purchase of our first house. Asking price was $100,000 (in 2004). There were two other bids in for $125,000. Our bid was $99,000. The couple actually picked us because we bumped into them during our walk-through and they really liked us!

I’m Haute! One of the best deals I scored was new cookware after our wedding. We returned a few random pieces in exchange for a 10 piece set, which was on sale, another 10% off because it was from our registry, and another 15% off for opening a store credit card. And we qualified for a free utensil set valued at $50. Amazing.

I’m haute…and my best deal ever happened when my due-on-Jan-4 son came 5 days early on December 30. Not only is he the cutest baby ever (or maybe tied for cutest with Clara) but he saved us oodles of money come tax time. Big brown eyes, pinch-able cheeks, adorable baby laughs and a tax deduction? Yes, please.

My best with was actually a truck full of deals. I heard Pier One was having an additional % off clearance so headed to the store one night. Ended up getting a sofa table, two end tables, a bunch of their HUGE a$$ candles (regular price like $50), some reed diffusers, 2 pairs of curtains, a few silver accent plates and some BIG vases. All for the price of $128. The store manager was there and said he was sick of the stuff and wanted it gone so ended up giving us something like an additional 90% off the current marked price. The sofa table alone was regular priced $350. I was one happy girl that night :).

We’ve actually scored some pretty good deals lately. Two really big deals actually. We found a brand-new-still-in-the-box carseat/stroller combo for $20 which was regular $180. We also found two brand new Cricut’s for $20 total which would have regularly been $800. So, I say we definitely got good deals on those.

My current vehicle was my best deal…I didn’t have to get a new vehicle but went in at the end of a month, test drove and told the guy what I wanted to pay. It was way below invoice and he almost had a fit and came back with some offer that was too much. I politely told him that I wasn’t going to pay that much and left. My husband had a fit because he thought the guys deal was really good. I didn’t call him back to take it but in a couple of days he called and took my deal. So it pays to research and then walk away if you can…they will call back if they truly want to sell you something. I saved over $4000 that day.

I am a bargain hunter! I am constantly searching for great deals, especially on things we need. I was able to pull off our entire wedding for about 8,000 with an amazing venue (we’re not lucky enough to have a back yard like yours), a fantastic photographer, full food, games, canoes, and everything you can think of. It took a lot more work but I was able to save thousands and thousands of dollars over the process!
