Fab Freebie: So Haute In Here

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

Who doesn’t love a sale? Especially when it’s to the tune of 50-75% off retail. Well that’s exactly how HauteLook rolls when it comes to creating 48-hour deeply discounted sales on home items (as well as clothing and beauty stuff too). A new sale pops up every morning at 11am EST, but here’s a sampling of what was up for grabs last week:

Hautelook Tiles

And one of you is gonna get $100 to spend on HauteLook this week, meaning you could snag items like an $850 graphic rug for just 80 bucks out of your own pocket. Not too shabby…

Hautelook Rugs

Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything on HauteLook.="nofollow">
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’M HAUTE” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about the all-time best deal you’ve ever scored. Was it an incredible sale that landed you a deep discount? Or maybe you bartered your way to something for free?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 20th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

This giveaway’s random winner is… Valerie J (who’s scored a $4000 Restoration Hardware armoire for only $315 just because the top crown molding was busted). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from HauteLook.

… but not at bargain-hunting. My shopping-fu is very weak. I can’t even barter at garage sales – I just pay whatever they’re asking!

I’M HAUTE… I purchased a beautiful mirrored frame for less than $5, just because the artwork inside of it was so hideous. Now it frames our B&W wedding photo and it’s awesome.

I’m usually only willing to put in the effort to bargain hunt on big pieces. But I saved loads on my kitchen remodel by shopping eBay, appliance warehouse clearance sales and Habitat reStores!

I’M HAUTE! My wife and I scored a great 1950’s hanging, corner medicine cabinet. The front is a beveled glass mirror and it’s made out of solid wood, now painted white. We got it at a city-wide yard sale for $10! Now it hangs in my youngest’s room as a “holder of things we don’t want her to get at.” It’s a great piece.

The BEST deal I ever got was on a FREE Antique in perfect condition dresser for my daughter’s room. I saw it on Freecyle in my area and was the lucky one to snag it up! When I picked up the dresser the lady also gave me a very nice antique rocker chair :) They were great finds!

The best deal I’ve gotten in recent memory is new ski boots. They were originally $700 and I got them for $300. Still a good chunk of change but they’ll last me a few years and at more than 50% off, I feel good about them.

I’m Haute- a recent score was two large cardboard boxes of standard size building blocks. My 2yr old is just at the right stage to go from baby blocks to big kid blocks. Have you looked at the prices of new hard wood blocks. Pricey. so my $10 score probably added up to more than $150 worth of blocks if I had bought them new.

My best deal was FREE. We found a mid-century lounge chair and ottoman, both upholstered in the original green crushed velvet, in the back of a pickup truck. We asked the owners of the truck if they were trashing it, and they enthusiastically passed it on. It is in unbelievably fabulous condition, and it has a place of honor in our living room. It’s my favorite piece of furniture, in fact.

I’M HAUTE! I get deals by “shopping” in my parent’s basement. Free is always the best deal. I just bought a ceramic hanging owl lamp for $5 on Craigslist – the eyes light up and it’s lookin’ pretty awesome on our front porch for Halloween.
