Fab Freebie: So Haute In Here

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

Who doesn’t love a sale? Especially when it’s to the tune of 50-75% off retail. Well that’s exactly how HauteLook rolls when it comes to creating 48-hour deeply discounted sales on home items (as well as clothing and beauty stuff too). A new sale pops up every morning at 11am EST, but here’s a sampling of what was up for grabs last week:

Hautelook Tiles

And one of you is gonna get $100 to spend on HauteLook this week, meaning you could snag items like an $850 graphic rug for just 80 bucks out of your own pocket. Not too shabby…

Hautelook Rugs

Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything on HauteLook.="nofollow">
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’M HAUTE” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about the all-time best deal you’ve ever scored. Was it an incredible sale that landed you a deep discount? Or maybe you bartered your way to something for free?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 20th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

This giveaway’s random winner is… Valerie J (who’s scored a $4000 Restoration Hardware armoire for only $315 just because the top crown molding was busted). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from HauteLook.

Best deal I’ve scored was spa blue ceramic tile from Lowe’s for our kitchen backsplash. It has a wavy texture that makes it look just like glass, but it only cost about $125 on clearance!

I’M Haute – between coupons and sales at Target, a few weeks ago I scored 4 large body washes (Olay brand if I remember correctly) for free! And on the haggling side, I bought my husband’s wedding gift, a wonderful expensive watch, in the Virgin Isles for dirt cheap b/c I was willing to walk away if they didn’t go low enough!

I’M HAUTE. In the three months since I bought my first home, my best deal (I think) was a tri-view 37″ medicine cabinet that would have cost me about $100 new… for which I paid $3 at a yard sale. (I’m painting it white – following your instructions – and then modge-podging some pretty paper on the inside of the doors, a la Clara’s dressing table.)

I’m Haute…I would love to win this one. One time we got our 42″ LCD TV for 10% just because we said that we would take one that was returned. Come to find out it was not returned at all but the box had just been opened and then taped back up!

I’m so Haute that I bargain for EVERYTHING! Even at the Home Depot or Michaels if I find an item that is damaged but still useful to me. The other day I asked for, and got, a percentage off a poster board at Michaels because it had a marker line across it. It didn’t matter because I was painting it.

But my best deal, by far, has got to be my Crate and Barrel sofa which I got for $300 on Craigslist because it had a tear in the arm. I just have a throw blanket over it, and saved over $1200 bucks!

For only $150 at Home Goods, we recently bought eight sets of iced tea, double old fashioned, and all-purpose wine glasses by Waterford crystal that retails at Macy’s and online for $600. Combined with our china that was a gift from my husband’s grandmother, we are able to do fine dining on the cheap.

Hmmm… Have you ever been to a JCrew factory/sample sale in Lynchburg? They do them about once a month and you can get insane deals there. Last time I went I got a gorgeous camel color classic wool coat for $40 and a couple of really awesome cardigans–an embellished wool one for $10 and a cashmere one for $18. I think it’d be right up your alley Sherry! (And maybe John too… my husband loves them.)
