Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

I am currently experiencing a harrowing situation – choosing paint colors for my house. I thought having a fan deck would help me easily choose the colors. Let’s just say too many choices is not always a good thing.

When I was in junior high, I referred to a new boy in our school who had just moved to where we lived in Florida and asked my best friend, “I wonder who would ever marry a backward Kentucky farm boy like him?” He had a thick drawl in his voice but was as friendly as could be. She shrugged and said she didn’t know.

Fast forward a number of years…during my last semester of college that same boy had just returned to my hometown after being away working at a logging camp in Alaska, and he quickly fit right back into my circle of friends since we had known each other growing up. My mom had just purchased a stick-shift (standard) truck and since our other vehicle had no air conditioning, I was desperate to learn how to drive it so I could cruise in comfort during our hot Florida summers. My mom said she wasn’t up for teaching me to drive it. I begged all my friends to please teach me to drive. That “backwards Kentucky farm boy” volunteered to teach me. Somewhere along the way, we fell in love. <3 <3 <3 We've now been married for almost 14 years and have three beautiful daughters. I am so blessed!

For some reason I didn’t read the post very well and thought I was supposed to share a touching story…im such a dork.
So for a sharing story, my 4 year old and 18 month old hate sharing and are always fighting over toys! When my youngest was only a month old though, I was always holding her. At one point I had set her down in her bouncy seat, and my oldest came right over to me and had me pick her up. She looked down at her sister and says with a fake sympathetic voice, “oh Sofia, are you jealous?”

SHARE ME! The first time my hubby (then boyfriend) and I got fast food together, he made the mistake of dumping both our fries together on the tray to eat. I’m a bit of a fast eater, he is not. He didn’t get many fries, and 7 years later, he STILL marks out a line between our food!

My brother and I shared the top floor of a house my dad built. Around when my brother was 12 (and I was 6) my dad finally got around to dividing the upstairs into two rooms by building a wall right down the middle. The catch is that to share heat & a/c, he put a vent right under the wall that opened into both rooms. I spent the rest of the time we lived there spying on my brother by way of that vent and a walkie-talkie. I’d just reach down my vent up into his room and tape the walkie-talkie to underside of his vent. Haha! Little sisters… gotta love them!

Well one fine day when I was about seven, I was cleaning out my room (which was not that often) and taking my clothes to the laundry room. As I rounded the corner in the kitchen with a big load of clothes in my hands, I tripped over the not-yet-unloaded dishwasher… OUCH. Fork right in my stomach. But don’t worry, my mom got me ice cream after we went to the emergency room. Nothing like a cold treat after a hard day cleaning.

It is really difficult to share food with my husband! He eats really fast and takes huge bites, and I like to eat slow and enjoy my food. He doesn’t understand when I don’t want to “share” with him. I feel like I have to race him bite for bite to get a decent meal in. When I hand him my sandwich so he can take a “bite”, I get it back half gone. But we do have some good laughs over it!
