Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME!! Ever since I got pregnant, sharing my food with my husband or anyone else is no longer an option. I’m like a human vaccuum…my husband now knows not to even ask for a bite! I’m sure I’ll return to my nice, sharing self once baby comes…let’s hope anyway. :)

My two sisters and I had to share the back seat of my parent’s station wagon when we went on long trips (and couldn’t use the rear-facing seats in the trunk) – we would put pillows in-between us to divide the space…Yep, the pillows took up some of the space, but each person had their own area…until my parents got a mini-van and I claimed the back seat to myself (although then I would usually have to share with some luggage)

    Thanks for the give away!

Share me! I live alone, so I rarely have to share anything. I did recently travel around New Zealand for three weeks in a teeny tiny camper van with my best friend. So a lot of sharing was going on.

Years ago I was at an indian pow wow with my mom and a friend of mine and I’d bought an ear of corn from one of the food vendors for lunch. The first bite was DELISH (they added sugar to the water so it was perfectly sweet). My best friend looks at me and says “Hey, let me have some.” I, the loving friend that I am, licked the ear of corn and told her no and to get her own. She looked at me, snatched the corn from my hand, broke off the bottom section I’d been holding while licking it and handed the rest back to me. I just about fell over with laughter! It was totally what I deserved!

Like many others, my sister and I shared a room up until I was 9 and she was 12. As a kid, I was very messy and hated cleaning my room. My sister got so tired of getting told to clean her room when the mess was all mine, so she literally put tape down the middle of the room and divided the room into my half and her half.

I love making and sharing food, but I hate it when someone just takes the last of something without asking if anyone else wants it first! But making a big meal, inviting people over to share food and stories and laughter, it’s the best.

I have to tell this story about my 4 year old. He has been a typical 4 year old lately with whining and demanding and craziness. However the other day we were running some errands and it started to pour outside. He had on a jacket with a hood and I didnt have anything. So I told him I was going to come around and grab him and run into the store. I got him out of the car and put his hood on and he reached out and put his hands on my head to protect me from the rain. It melted my heart and reminded me my sweet little boy is still in there somewhere.

Once when I was younger and on vacation with my family, my parents made my brother and I share a bed. He was hogging the covers and making weird noises, so I pulled on the covers as hard as I could. He pulled back on them, even though he was still asleep. Then I just let go of my side… while he was still pulling. He fell out of the bed! My parents never made us share a bed after that :)

SHARE ME! My sister and I used to share a room, and we’d stay up late listening to love line (which was SO not appropriate) with Adam Carolla and Dr Drew. We had bunk beds so every once in a while i would lean over and ask her what the heck they meant and she would totally lie to me and make it innocent.

I once asked how a person would be addicted to Coke and she said that Coke has lots of sugar which makes them become addicted, so I should drink water and not soda. Years later, I came to her and told her I thought I should go to rehab because I was pretty sure addicted to Dr Pepper. She had a good laugh at that. :)

I grew up in a family of 3 sisters. GIRLSGIRLSGIRLS. My papa had many hobbies to keep him from going crazy in his “Sorority House.” My momma taught us to share everything… clothes, our room, our bathroom, our kittens, jewelry, etc. I loved every second of it: all 3 of us curled up on a quilt, dressed up in whimsical costumes (me with stockings on my head to pretend were braids), with kittens everywhere. Sharing was a way of life… we always compared it to the girls on the movie “Little Women.”

I once shared an office with a man who was “shopping” for a wife on the internet. His days consisted of doing a little work and then talking to his ladies on IM or his cell phone. It was like a bizarre version of The Bachelor and the lucky lady was an accountant in the Philippines. I hope I never have to share an office again!

I share all the time with my 3 year old and 1.5 year old. I the morning, when I get ready, I share my makeup (with my 3 year old) (she mainly just rubs blush on a cheek), I share my toast with both of them, and I share my water bottle when we are out (mine is just more fun I guess). They also want to wear my shoes in the house and play. Since becoming a mom, I share share and share all the time.

SHARE ME! I really impressed my parents when I was about 7 by offering to switch bedrooms to give my brother the big room when he got a drum set and needed some more space. They didn’t realize for a few years that my motivation was actually selfish – I was going through a phase of being afraid of windows (because of the vampires that could reach in and get me, naturally) and I really just wanted the room with fewer death-windows. :)

I remember when my sisters and I were younger and we had to share a room, 4 girls 2 sets of bunk beds one very small & cramped room ! That lasted for about 5 years, until my grandma moved out. as cramped as it was we enjoyed being all in one room until we moved and then we split up 2 to a room. I did not get my own room until I was 20y/o , then I got married at 21 so back to sharing a room..Lol I don’t mind though =) hehe
