Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

My husband will often “share” my toothbrush. It is totally bewildering to me that he cannot remember which one is mine and which ones is his. Apparently he’s pretty but dumb.

Share me! My older brother and I used to share a room when my family went on vacations. We were little devils and decided to write our names (in pencil) in the bottom of one of the dresser drawers. When the family came back 5 or 6 years later to that same condo, our names were still in the dresser along with several others! I always had fun sharing the room with him, even if he didn’t with me. :)

I am an only child, and therefore, not the best at sharing. But, being married to my husband sure has helped me get better at playing nice and sharing. Aww, my mom would be so proud! :)

When I was seven and my little brother was four he began having night terrors. He would wake up in the middle of the night screaming inconsolably. The pediatrician recommended having him share a bedroom with me. So my parents moved his bed and dresser into my bedroom. It was awful. He would wake up in the middle of the night, stand up on his bed while screaming, crying, and pointing to the corner of the room. My mom wound up with two screaming children! To this day I often remind my mom how terrifying that was for ME! To that pediatrician I say, “BAD IDEA!”

SHARE ME! My sister and I grew up sharing a room with bunk beds and we used hold hands from top to bottom bunk all the time! I was on bottom and would hold my arm up and she was on top and let her arm drop down and we would hold hands! Eventually I would fall asleep and let go but it was pretty precious and we still talk about it!

SHARE ME! Growing up, my little sister and I shared a bed – a twin bed. Not so horrible when I was 8 and she was 2, but when I was 18 and she was 12…sigh. To this day, I sleep on a sliver of bed at the very edge and my husband gets most of our queen bed.

    Maybe I overshared?

I was an only girl in a house full of boys, so I never really had to share things until I went to college. Being thrown into a room with 3 girls from VERY different backgrounds was difficult! I remember one of my roommates vacuuming at 6:00 in the morning and me losing it! Ha ha! I’ve grown and changed since then. :)

SHARE ME! When my brother and I graduated from college my dad offered to take us to Las Vegas as a graduation present. When he talked about it, he said he would have a room with his new girlfriend (my parents were recently divorced) and my brother and I would have our own room. Sounded good… but once we got there, we found out that only did we have to share a room with my dad and his new girlfriend but my brother and I had to share a full sized bed! Needless to say, I felt like I was transported back in time…. grossed out by my dad showing affection to a woman and fighting with my brother over the covers or hogging the bed!

Right after I started college, I told my roommate about this boy I met and liked. I went on and on about how great he was, how cute he was, etc. She then, very nonchalantly, tells me “he’s a an awesome kisser, too.” Turns out he was her ex. One “share” I did not want on my record, so I tossed that fish back. Good thing too… I met my now husband the next week!

Right now my husband’s car isn’t working so we’ve been sharing my car. Fortunately, our work schedules are so that it makes it super easy for me to drop him off at work and then head off to my work. He can usually get a ride home with a co-worker or take the MAX home. Not only are we saving money on gas but we get to spend the morning drive together! We should probably still get his car fixed…..

SHARE ME! My mom surprised me with NKOTB tickets in 2nd grade! I went looking fly with my hair in a sideways pony tail, a NKOTB tshirt bunched to one side, and a pleather skirt. Not wanting to miss any of the action, I wanted until the last possible minute to tell my mom I had to go the bathroom…peed my pants waiting in line. My mom got me a new NKOTB tshirt (oversized), somehow found a piece of rope, tied it around my waist and we finished watching the concert…actually, she did. I fell asleep! Best concert ever! ha!

SHARE ME…my husband and I have been trying to conceive for some time now and we recently*yesterday* went to the Dr only to find out that I do not ovulate:( Talk about disappointment. I walked out of that office with my husband waiting in the waiting room and I had the sheer look of diappointment on my face and I could tell he was concerned while I was waiting in line to get my next appt set up. When we walked out of that office I never have had such a huge urge to cry as I did then and muttered “I’m Broken…” and he looked at me and said I was “perfect just the way I was baby making stuff or not” There are meds I can take to get myself ovulating and I am excited about those getting me regular..but right now I’m kind of heart broken. I know everything is in Gods hands.

Share me! One morning I came into work (Bioengineering department at a University) and got a 7 minute voicemail from an obviously inebriated woman who wanted to know if I knew someone who could take care of the black mold that had been growing in her house. She also managed to overshare about her divorce and her ex-husband and subsequent downward spiral that ensued post-split. It was weird…and sad…but mostly weird.

I guess this is very common but I used to share my bedroom with my sis while growing up. She scares very easily during storms so she would always come to my bed when she got scared. I made a trip out of the country for her wedding and we slept in the same room before her big day… like our last sister hurra! Well, there was a storm that night, and it felt like we were 7 or 8, we were kiddos again. A sweet memory for me, maybe embarrasing for her… we live thousands of miles away from each other today, but we always make fun of her from her storm scares.

I remember the time I chased him around the house with a wooden meat tenderizer (God only knows why), I didn’t get the chance to “tenderize” him, because he fell and ripped his toe open on the sidewalk. I really don’t know why I’m sharing this, because it doesn’t have a “tender” moment in it… all I did was run back in the house laughing… wow – I swear I’m not a monster!

Let’s just say that 2 teenage girls sharing a room led to many eventful nights of lights switching on and off and parents constantly entering the room to end many bickers. Ah….childhood memories :)
