Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME! Sharing my house with my husband’s best friend. He moved in three weeks after we got married and 6 weeks after we bought the house. He was moving in from out of state and we paid for his moving expenses along with not charging rent. He just found his own place and moved out last weekend. As much as we love the boy dearly, it’s nice to have our house all to ourselves again.

The night before I ended up in the hospital to have my son (pre-eclampsia), I had to teach my husband how to put a baby in the car carrier. Using various stuffed animals that we’d gotten at the baby shower, and taking many pictures, my husband learned the correct way to put a baby into the car carrier (I left the learning how to change a diaper to the nurses in the NICU).

SHARE ME ……I remember our first trip as a married couple with another couple and I will never forget us all staying together as they lost their wallet, and we finished the trip on just our budget alone for all four of us. You can make do and have alot of fun when your options are limited.

SHARE ME! Back in the day when cassette tapes were all the rage, my younger sister and I would share them. As I was looking through our box of tapes for something to listen to, I saw one that looked like a blank tape, so I put it in my tape player and it was my sister singing all of these songs she had made up. Obviously she never meant to put the tape into that box … and of course I had to razz her a little about it ;) I still laugh when I think about it. I was really cute!

A few years ago, my husband and I took a weekend trip down to San Antonio with our best friends. We stayed on the Air Force Base to save some money. As we checked into our rooms, my friend quickly realized that the rooms have a common bathroom between them, and we were NOT in adjoining rooms. Needless to say, she didn’t want to SHARE a bathroom with a stranger, so we trucked it back to the office and requested adjoining rooms.
We still talk about it to this day, because after the drive (3 hours) and the room situation getting settled, it took us a total of 9 hours to make it to the Riverwalk!!

My favorite memory of sharing is when my girlfriends and I all bought ONE hotel room in Ocean City, MD, for all 8 of us. Only 2 beds, one bathroom, and one mirror. So needless to say, getting ready to go out for the night was a challenge with all of us but it made for some really great memories :)

SHARE ME! Lately my husband and I have been sharing the responsibility of feeding our cat by hand, literally letting him lick the nasty cat food off our fingers, because he’s on some kind of hunger strike and won’t eat out of a bowl, plate, off the floor, or any other reasonable means of ingesting. Only at our house….

Right after I graduated from college, I lived for about a year in a 4 bedroom townhouse with 4 other roomates that I met on craigslist. When we all had our respective significant others spending the night on weekends, there were updwards of 10 people (plus 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs, and a bunny named Bob) all under one 1600 sq ft roof!

It was a total adventure and many a crazy shenanigan occured in that house!

Funny story… on v-day this year, my husband and i left for work while it was still dark out. we live in a townhome and i park right in front of our house, while my husband parks in a small lot to the side of our house. as i was getting into my car, i saw him walking back over from the small lot with a bunch of balloons and other v-day paraphernalia. i said, out loud, “you are so silly! what am i going to do with balloons?” and started to walk over to him. then as the individual walked under the street light i noticed it wasn’t my husband… it was my next door neighbor and he was putting the balloons in his wife’s car (parked right next to me) as a surprise! i’m 100% certain he heard me but i tried to play it off and told him that my husband had made me a cup of tea and left if for me in my car (that was the best response i could come up with). i think i blushed all the way to work and called my husband to share in my humiliation! :)

My brother and I hated sharing and each other growing up. Then we grew up and moved away where we saw each other once a year, and life should have been great.
But that did not work for us. So I moved closer and now we are moving into an apartment together. I could use this prize to do up this apartment.
