Fab Freebie: Roll On Some Royalty

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below!***

Sorry for the late notice (travel is messing up my winner picking mojo!), but the random winner of this stencil prize is… Jen (who once “made a chevron painting with instructions I found on Pinterest and it turned out great”). Congrats Jen!

The love of stencils that first blossomed when we did our office walls only grew stronger when we tackled a couple of stenciling projects for our book (on pages 26 & 282). So in the spirit of sharing the love, this week’s prize comes from the maker of the very stencils that we used in all three cases – Royal Design Studio. We’re longtime fans of their modern shapes and patterns, and they’re starting you off with a $100 stencil gift card and throwing in a $100 “Stencil Success Kit” that includes the essentials for executing your stencil project. You’ll get a roller set, 7 brushes, and your choice of five stencil crémes. And to top it all off, how about a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice? That totals a $250 kick in the pants to get your stencil on.

Royal Design Studio Giveaway

  • PRIZE: $100 stencil gift card to Royal Design Studio, plus a “Stencil Success Kit” and a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “STENCIL ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … one DIY project that you’ve tackled once and are dying to try again. Is it a paint project? Something building related? Are you itching to take another whack at a crafting or sewing project?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Nov 14th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Royal Design Studio.

    Stencil me!

I loved doing our bamboo countertop for the basement kitchenette. I’m definitely ready to tackle another project like that soon… unfortunately I’ll be working on the basement ceiling instead. Unless I win in which case I have an awesome stencil project already in mind!

STENCIL ME!!!! Please, stencil me. What gorgeous patterns. I wallpapered my half bath with my Mom. She did most of the work. The pink stecil reminds me of the pattern of the wallpaper. Great inspiration to tackle my daughter’s bedroom.

STENCIL ME! I stenciled a border in my bedroom when I was in middle school, and painted over and re-did it in college. Now my husband and I are expecting our first baby and I’d love to do a fun accent wall – or maybe the closet – in the nursery-to-be.

STENCIL ME! I haven’t ever stenciled, but when I was about 16 I repainted my room with some serious vertical stripes. It was a little out of control and I’d love to try a toned down version of my accent wall :)

Even though the 1st time was a success, I stripped an old nightstand and re-stained it. It was tough but I bet I could do it better the 2nd time.

STENCIL ME! The hubs and I just bought our first house in June, and we are definitely beginners in DIY home improvement, but have lots of ideas! I am really excited about our newly painted living room, dining room, and kitchen – can’t wait to tackle the den and foyer to tie the whole first floor together. I’m headed to IKEA this weekend to get some frames for a black and white frame wall in the dining room – I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

I think the project I would like to try again would be adding architectural detail to our builder basic house…we already added corbels(that we built). Who knows what might be next!

The one DIY project that I am really proud of and that I can’t wait to try again is refinishing my childhood dresser. I had to strip down the layers and layers of paint then prime, sand, paint, and seal. I also boiled the hardware in water to remove the layers of paint. They came out being this beautiful brassy shinny color. Can’t wait to try this again!

I know it’s a bit boring, but I’m just feeling the itch to start painting walls again. We did half of them before we moved in, and then haven’t touched the rest of the house since then.

I recently decided to do “nature art” for each season by finding something in nature that reminds me of that season and figuring out a crafty way to get the image onto canvas (so far I’ve only used spray paint). Can’t wait to get all four seasons done and up on the wall!

STENCIL ME! Last year I totally revamped an old hutch and turned it into a bar cabinet. The doors and sides had recessed panels, so I used textured wallpaper in the recesses to give it a great moroccan pattern. Then the super dark walnut color went bright yellow and I put a turquoise plexiglass top on it so it would look like glass (but not break like glass!)… I would love to do another furniture project, maybe with stencils this time!

STENCIL ME! I wish we had a house of our own so I could go crazy… however we don’t… yet. I can’t wait to make some homemade Christmas gifts and ornaments! I would also love to make another headboard (last time we made it from plywood… then I saw the page in your book about the canvas stretcher-amazing! That would have saved a lot of scuffed paint from me struggling with a heavy headboard by myself!)
