Fab Freebie: Roll On Some Royalty

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below!***

Sorry for the late notice (travel is messing up my winner picking mojo!), but the random winner of this stencil prize is… Jen (who once “made a chevron painting with instructions I found on Pinterest and it turned out great”). Congrats Jen!

The love of stencils that first blossomed when we did our office walls only grew stronger when we tackled a couple of stenciling projects for our book (on pages 26 & 282). So in the spirit of sharing the love, this week’s prize comes from the maker of the very stencils that we used in all three cases – Royal Design Studio. We’re longtime fans of their modern shapes and patterns, and they’re starting you off with a $100 stencil gift card and throwing in a $100 “Stencil Success Kit” that includes the essentials for executing your stencil project. You’ll get a roller set, 7 brushes, and your choice of five stencil crémes. And to top it all off, how about a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice? That totals a $250 kick in the pants to get your stencil on.

Royal Design Studio Giveaway

  • PRIZE: $100 stencil gift card to Royal Design Studio, plus a “Stencil Success Kit” and a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “STENCIL ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … one DIY project that you’ve tackled once and are dying to try again. Is it a paint project? Something building related? Are you itching to take another whack at a crafting or sewing project?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Nov 14th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Royal Design Studio.

STENCIL ME! I have been sewing, stenciling, and antiquing as long as I can remember. One of the projects I love is my butter yellow sunroom, which is a beautiful brick on the floor and bottom part of the walls, and the room is surrounded by windows highlighting our backyard. I stenciled a variety of bird houses and colorful birds, my most favorite being hummingbirds, around the top of the walls above the windows. This design is brought full circle when the hummers are clammoring for the 3 feeders on the outside of the windows during summer and fall! It was a fun and rewarding project and I still receive many compliments on it 12 years later. Most of my projects now center around finding wonderful furniture that I can give new personalities through various paint techniques for my antique booths.

STENCIL ME! A couple of years ago my friend taught me how to make pillow cases on her sewing machine. I made a few awesome and colorful cases out of chenille fabric I got at a going out of business sale at a local craft store. I still have a bag full of fabric left, and would love to get my own sewing machine so I can finish the project!

    “STENCIL ME!”

I am dying to paint something with the Annie Sloan Chalk paint I bought about two weeks ago. Trying to squeeze in time to try it out – if all goes well, I want to paint a ton of stuff, including my dining room table, dining room hutch, a dresser and table in my bedroom…. =) My current plan is to start with a picture frame I bought at a flea market last weekend I’ll post pics when it’s done. If you guys get a chance, the flea markets in Harpers Ferry, WV are awesome! They even have an indoor one that’s open year round!

STENCIL ME!!! i stenciled a birch tree forest on one wall in our guest bedroom and i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. had never stenciled before…it was a bit time consuming, but the result was totally worth it. i’d like to do a wall in my baby girl’s room…it’s a great and CHEAP alternative to wallpaper…wallpaper without the committment. :0)

My last DIY project was making an Anthropologie-inspired ruffled lamp shade, and now I’m itching to make some fabric-covered shades in our bedroom. But mostly I really want to makeover our bathrooms and was going to stencil the walls so I need these!

My last big DIY project that I would do again (note, the “do again”) would be flooring. Over the summer I installed new peel and stick tile in our front hallway. I am dying to put new flooring in our kitchen and get rid of our super ugly, stained linoleum.

Stencil Me! We are in the process of painting beds for the nursery in anticipation of our first little one. We also desperately need to repaint all the builder painted trim and doors in our house. I’d love to stencil a focal wall in our bedroom or the guest bath in our house.

Stencil Me! My husband and I are working on defeating the big beige box we live in. The hall bath has been done, the master bedroom is on deck, to be followed by the dining room and living room. The central hallway could use some tone on tone love in the form of a graphic stencil. Royal actually has my two top favorites right now… the Lisboa Tile and the Moroccan Key Stencil.

I tried stenciling once, and it was an utter failure. I used the wrong paint and took too long…the paint popped right back off the wall, leaving me with a half-stenciled mess, haha! I’d love to try again, but right now I rent. :( So my DIY project I’d love to redo in the meantime would be making a terrarium. The one I made before is ok, but not stellar. :)
