Fab Freebie: Roll On Some Royalty

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below!***

Sorry for the late notice (travel is messing up my winner picking mojo!), but the random winner of this stencil prize is… Jen (who once “made a chevron painting with instructions I found on Pinterest and it turned out great”). Congrats Jen!

The love of stencils that first blossomed when we did our office walls only grew stronger when we tackled a couple of stenciling projects for our book (on pages 26 & 282). So in the spirit of sharing the love, this week’s prize comes from the maker of the very stencils that we used in all three cases – Royal Design Studio. We’re longtime fans of their modern shapes and patterns, and they’re starting you off with a $100 stencil gift card and throwing in a $100 “Stencil Success Kit” that includes the essentials for executing your stencil project. You’ll get a roller set, 7 brushes, and your choice of five stencil crémes. And to top it all off, how about a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice? That totals a $250 kick in the pants to get your stencil on.

Royal Design Studio Giveaway

  • PRIZE: $100 stencil gift card to Royal Design Studio, plus a “Stencil Success Kit” and a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “STENCIL ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … one DIY project that you’ve tackled once and are dying to try again. Is it a paint project? Something building related? Are you itching to take another whack at a crafting or sewing project?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Nov 14th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Royal Design Studio.

    STENCIL ME!

I’ve made curtains before and have purchased the fabric but haven’t forced myself to get started on a set for the dining room. Maybe tonight will be the night…

I’ve been trying to muster up the nerve to stencil an awkward blank wall in my apartment, but I’ve been worried about how it would turn out. The “stencil Success Kit” could make my dreams of a stenciled wall come true!

STENCIL ME!!! I loved the stencil project in your book! Now that is has finally cooled down some, I have my list:
    1. Paint front door
    2. Repaint (possibly stencil, if I win) master bedroom walls
    3. Pull up carpet in master bedroom and put down laminate floors.

    STENCIL ME!

Back when I was in high school, my mom and I together used to crochet baby blankets for each of my cousins as they had their little ones. Now that I’m pregnant, I’d like dust off those skills and make some things for my own little one!

Stencil me!!!!! Those stencils are amazing!

Your blog has so inspired me to DIY. I recently upholstered a trash picked coffee table. Some day I’ll put pics on my blog and link it. The project I want to tackle next is to get back to some sewing. I made curtains for my sons room and want to next see my own floor pouf. I also want to sew some additional bedding for my son (a crib skirt, a flannel sheet for winter, etc). Gotta do it!

STENCIL ME! I’ve picked up a few pieces of well-loved (code for rough-looking) furniture and I’m itching to repaint them and make them beautiful. I’ve seen several examples of stenciled furniture refurbs that are great inspiration.

Stencil me! I want to try to paint a piece of laminate furniture. Husband says it can’t be done, but thanks to the internet and decor blogs, it can be done if you follow the right steps. It’s not like it’s a main piece of furniture, just a side table!

We just bought our first house and before we move in we’re painting all the bedrooms AND putting in hardwood floors ourselves! We might have bitten off more than we can chew but I also want to stencil our guest bathroom, assuming I’m still up for it ;)

A project that I’d like to repeat is adding wainscote (sp?) to a room, like we did in our large dining room. Although the last time we actually used beadboard for traditional wainscote, I would like to do a “faux” the next time with just a different paint color and some molding for the chair rail and other molding “squares” below for the illusion of panels.

I couple years ago, my husband and I came across a solid oak china cabinet for $13 at a thrift store. We repainted it and it looked great, but this was pre-YHL days for me, and I didn’t think of sanding or priming. I just bought a wooden side table and am dying to paint it the RIGHT way!

We painted every room in our house except for the kitchen when we moved in 2 years ago. Now our boys’ room and our masterbath are in need of a tune up.
BUT the DIY project I’m most excited to tackle again is tiling (especially a small tile backsplash) it was so fun and loved the dramatic results

I’ll be tackling the job of sanding down the horrible job the previous owner did of texturing the walls in the living room, and I’ll be putting up venetian plaster on one wall to lead into the hall in which I’ve done the same (sanding and venetian plaster). It’s a monster room, so I’m not sure how I’ll go about getting it done myself, but I can’t wait to rescue the crown moulding. *smile*

My DIY Project List includes redoing my new “guest” room. See, my son (my baby!) is leaving for the Air Force’s Basic Military Training the first part of December to serve six years (minimum!), so I plan on turning his former teen hang-out into a sweet guest room (for when he or others visit). We’re talking new paint, window treatments, bedding, maybe some new furniture, the whole thing. I’m hoping throwing myself into a DIY Project will help take some of the bite off of having my son gone. Keep your fingers crossed.

STENCIL ME! I loved the way a custom decal I created for my son’s nursery turned out – I traced and cut out different size fish and then HAND DREW sea grass that I cut out while 8 months preggers and watching the Oscars (while also coming *this close* to giving myself some sort of scissors-related hand injury from the intricate cutting). I don’t know if I could pull it off again though … something about the nesting mode of pregnancy helped fuel my creativity. I last attempted ‘fun with decals’ this past weekend by lining the insides of our nightstand drawers with patterned square decals I bought at Target – kind of looks like a quilt.
