Fab Freebie: Roll On Some Royalty

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below!***

Sorry for the late notice (travel is messing up my winner picking mojo!), but the random winner of this stencil prize is… Jen (who once “made a chevron painting with instructions I found on Pinterest and it turned out great”). Congrats Jen!

The love of stencils that first blossomed when we did our office walls only grew stronger when we tackled a couple of stenciling projects for our book (on pages 26 & 282). So in the spirit of sharing the love, this week’s prize comes from the maker of the very stencils that we used in all three cases – Royal Design Studio. We’re longtime fans of their modern shapes and patterns, and they’re starting you off with a $100 stencil gift card and throwing in a $100 “Stencil Success Kit” that includes the essentials for executing your stencil project. You’ll get a roller set, 7 brushes, and your choice of five stencil crémes. And to top it all off, how about a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice? That totals a $250 kick in the pants to get your stencil on.

Royal Design Studio Giveaway

  • PRIZE: $100 stencil gift card to Royal Design Studio, plus a “Stencil Success Kit” and a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “STENCIL ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … one DIY project that you’ve tackled once and are dying to try again. Is it a paint project? Something building related? Are you itching to take another whack at a crafting or sewing project?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Nov 14th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Royal Design Studio.

STENCIL ME! A few years ago I went on an “antiquing spree” and white washed/antiqued a bunch of odds & ends pieces in my home. I love the look and I can think of a few pieces that need an update!

I’ve been dying to stencil, actually. A modern geometric white/greige on our kitchen’s back wall to tie together our open-ish floor plan.

Oh, paint – I love paint.

Stencil me!! I recently painted most of my almond colored closet doors so that they look clean and white. Though I’m proud of the result, I don’t look forward to finishing the last few as it’s a really tedious task. What I’d love to try (in addition to the obvious, stenciling!) is making my own piece of furniture, but until I move out of the city that’s probably not going to happen… Oh, to have a garage/workspace/power tools.

My DIY project redo: I would love to redo my current couch. I re-covered our previous one and I’ve learned so much since then. I have so many ideas rattling around in my head. We are in the process of purchasing the house we now lease, as soon as that ink is dry I would use this stencil kit in my daughter’s room. Can you think of the possibilities for a teen girl bedroom???

    STENCIL ME!

I just DIY’d some pillow cases for the throw pillows on our couch and now I’m dying to reupholster the big comfy arm chair that we inherited from my grandmother. Gram would be proud though, she regularly used to recover her dining room chairs with napkins that she “borrowed” from banquet halls (think family wedding and old lady stuffing napkins in her purse) to change up the look every few years.

My husband put up this amazing balloon decal (99 nine balloons) as a Valentine’s day present a couple years ago and it’s pretty much my favorite part of our room. I’ve been wanting to try something like it somewhere else in the house, but have been gun shy. Maybe stenciling a wall elsewhere would get close to the same effect…now if I could pick a stencil…and a wall…

STENCIL ME! Over the summer, I woke up one morning and decided to finally get around to painting my bedroom. I had been lusting after the paint color in your guest bedroom for months. I took the plunge and am thrilled with it. I even did a chevron accent wall that turned out amazing! Now the rest of my house needs painting.

I have recently done of a couple of upholstery projects (recovered an old ottoman and built a new headboard) and I love how easy it is to upholster with a staple gun. Even though my hand gets tired, I still love to staple, staple, staple, and then turn it over and see it looking all neat and pretty. My latest stencil need is for some burlap curtains. Yikes.
