Fab Freebie: Pressed And Ready

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Since we know you guys love personalized stationery as much as we do (and we always like to support other husband and wife teams), we’re psyched to bring you this week’s giveaway from Wild Ink Press. This duo – plus their 2 year old son/sidekick- churns out beautiful letterpress stationery by hand (and foot). And they print all of their stuff on 100% recycled paper or cotton and reuse everything from scraps to clean-up rags, always keeping their process as eco-friendly as possible. But of course, it’s their stunning designs that are the real stars of their process.

And this week, TWO of you are going to win a custom set of letterpress stationery (up to a $150 value each!). Here are the five designs our winners will have the pleasure of choosing from, either for themselves (or maybe even as a Valentine’s Day gift?). First we have The Signature, which puts your name in a silver metallic script with a custom icon to add some whimsy. And you can pick from green, pink, khaki or gray envelopes to match. Man, I wish my signature came out this fancy looking every time I sign on the dotted line.

WildInk Signature

The Dictionary is a classic design with dark brown or black ink on ivory paper. And speaking of the ivories, the khaki envelope comes lined with vintage sheet music or an actual dictionary page (smoking jacket and pipe not included).

WildInk Dictionary

The Bandana Paisley is kinda dusty old west meets colorful sophistication. Pick from a magenta, turquoise, purple or red paisley to coordinate with a gray, khaki or purple envelope. A far cry from the days of the Pony Express.

WildInk Bandana

The Nautical had us at “ahoy.” It comes on beachy pale blue paper with a ship ghosted in the background and a handsome navy envelope.

WildInk Nautical

The Audrey is a combo of a sophisticated dotted pinstripe and your name printed in a playful circus font. The orange or magenta color options for both the type and envelope finish off the big top design.

WildInk Pinstripe

Have you already picked out the one you love? Well here’s how you can vie for your chance to win (bonus: stay tuned for a discount on Thursday- everyone sort of wins in the end):

  • PRIZE: A 30-piece set of custom letterpress stationery from Wild Ink Press (selected from the five designs shown here).
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PRESS ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your writing style. Do you write exclusively in cursive? Do you rock all caps all of the time? Do you dot your I’s with something special? Is your penmanship virtually unreadable? Or do you just avoid hand-writing at all costs?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, February 3rd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: You name it. They’ll ship it anywhere!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I tend to go back and forth between cursive and non-cursive (why can’t I think of the proper word for that?) when I have to manually write. When I can, I try to type because I do not like my handwriting. However, a personal thank you note is not nearly as personal when it’s typed. :)

I use a mixture of printing and cursive. Typically, I start with print which gradually morphs into cursive as I go. It is sometimes strange to look at session notes that start looking nice and neat with block printing but end with elegant cursive… if it wasn’t me I’d think the same notes were written by different people!

In my five years as a teacher, I took pride in my neat-as-a-pin manuscript. But now that I’m a stay at home mom, all of that is out the window! I’m all about whatever is fastest, which is usually a cursive/manuscript hybrid. FREEDOM!! :)

Even with Facebook/Twitter/MySpace, I still belive in the power of the handwritten note. My handwriting is an inheritance from my father, an artist. It’s elegant cursive. Write on!

PRESS ME…my writing is a combo of both cursive and print. Some people tell me they love it, others have trouble reading it. But, my grandma once said it reminds her of my grandpa’s handwriting, which makes me like it even more.

Without a doubt, no questions asked I would go for the Nautical.

When I send out thank you notes or birthday cards I only write in cursive. My handwriting is neat and easily read. I can also see how my handwriting is similar to other family member’s penmanship, which is kinda cool (the loops look like my great-aunt’s, the way I have a hook on capital M’s and N’s looks like my mom’s, etc.)

I avoid cursive at all costs. I’m all about the free-hand written notes to others. I blur my words together and loop my letters together with more curves. But I think cursive is just way too “prim” for my notes to others!

A sorry combination of cursive and printing with some letters leaning to the right and some leaning to the left. I grew up to my father saying how letting go of the Palmer method was the demise of handwriting in American schools. He may have been correct!

You guys always im-PRESS ME! Tee hee!

I don’t do much well and I’m not artistic, but I am downright vain about my handwriting. Hey, my mom made me practice as a kid for hours on end (and her writing is gorgeous).

My print (which I use for organization-y things, like my to-do lists or report outlines) is painfully straight and spaced. My cursive looks like it came from Victorian England — I use it for brainstorming, creative writing, and writing notes and letters.

Complete strangers have come up to me and asked me to address their wedding invitations if they see my writing in public.

Hey, it’s nice to do at least one thing well! I think pretty penmanship is a lost art!

PRESS ME! Wow, their designs are beautiful. I am a much faster typist nowadays so I try to avoid hand-writing whenever possible… but for thank-you notes, etc. I do pick up a pen. I use a weird mish-mash of mostly printing but with some connected/quasi-cursive letters. I hated learning cursive in elementary school because I thought all of the letters looked funny, but I had a babysitter who was very artistic and had beautiful hand-writing, so I always tried to emulate her print-script hybrid.

When I was in school, I had the perfect handwriting. Not perfect as in good looking, but perfect as in textbook print where all the letters were evenly spaced, at 90 deg angles, etc. My professors used to always comment on it…but then again, I am an engineer. I have since stopped putting that much effort into writing (don’t know why I did that in the first place). Now I tend to be in such a hurry I only write half of a word and let the rest trail off in a squiggle.

Being the youngest of three girls, as a child I would often make random squiggles across a page and then ask my sisters if any of my scribbling had formed letters! Clearly I was destined to be a cursive writer, and to this day will always write any formal correspondence as such. However, when writing in very small doses, like for labels, I like to print and then detail every letter with serifs. This really gives everything a personal touch.
