Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A custom pet painting from Leslie Devito Paintings up to 20″ x 20″ in size (a $500 value)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

PAINT MY PET!! I would love to have a picture of my cat Rudy (short for Rudolph), who was named because he has a pink nose that’s only a couple of shades off from the famous reindeer. He’s 17 and still the sweetest cat in the world – everybody loves him!

Paint my pet! Actually, it would have to be a memorial image of our first baby, Mac the chocolate lab. We perfected(?) our parenting techniques on him before having kids. He died at age 14 two years ago. He was a sweet and lovely dog.

We sadly had to say goodbye to our cat Jack this summer, and he is badly missed. A gorgeous piece of art work to remember him by would be amazing.

I would have my dog painted — I have three, but my oldest dog is 16 and has been with me since I was 9 years old. He’s the sweetest, always looking for a belly rub or a scratch behind the ear, and if I sit on the floor to watch TV he’ll get up (slowwwwly because he’s so old) from his pillow and come sit in my lap.

    Paint my pet…

We have a mini golden doodle named Lucy. She’s a red head. She’s adorable. She was one last week and is our first pet. She’s been a bit of a challenge but I think that comes mostly from our naïveté when it comes to dogs. :) But things are going pretty well now. Whew! I love when she wants to lie down on the sofa she nudges all of the pillows onto the floor en route to her spot at the end. It’s really funny to watch her knock them all over.

I’d love to have a painting of my dog, Zoe. She’s got a killer personality – she’s a bit goofy, a bit stubborn, and 100% sweet. I love her quirks – she is scared of anything that makes her feet cold (metal flooring, puddles, etc), loves to eat ice cubes (cheapest dog treat ever), and will do just about anything for a chunk of banana.

PAINT MY PET! This is what I want for Christmas!! Our pup is especially talented at dancing. He also LOVES The Office theme song and he actually (I swear) trys to mimic it perfectly! He’s pretty good, he’s got all the high and low notes down, he just can’t do the melody because of a lack of vocal cords.
