Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A custom pet painting from Leslie Devito Paintings up to 20″ x 20″ in size (a $500 value)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

Hey John and Sherry :) What a fun giveaway, I love this!
We have an orange and white boy cat, he wakes me up every morning by nudging my arm and purring which is a lot nicer than an alarm clock.

I may or may not be a little obsessed with my 9 year old lab/great pyrenees mix, Riley. He is 120 lbs. of pure awesomeness. Despite the massive amounts of yellow hair he sheds daily, I wouldn’t trade him for anything!

I have an adorable brown tabby cat named Lola who is the sweetest and most loving kitty that I’ve ever known. While most cats can be indifferent and solitary, Lola loves to cuddle and takes every opportunity to climb all over my fiance and I to get some love lol I would absolutely love to have a portrait done of her!

PAINT MY PET s’il vous plait! I’d love to have my sweet Lily all done up in pigments. She’s an Australian Cattle Dog mix, a redhead, who has the habit of goosing you when she wants you to play. Yes, she’ll nose us right in the bum in order to get us moving. It’s… less than pleasant… when you’ve just gotten out of the shower, but super hilarious when she does it to guests. Don’t worry — we can curb it by taking her out for playtime to expend that energy before our friends show up.

Great giveaway! I would definitely want to PAINT MY PET Sammy, a big hairy fluffy Maine Coon Cat. I treat her like a dog, because I never owned a cat previously. She walks on a leash, sits & shakes for a treat, ‘guards’ our house & front door, and my husband is currently trying to teach her ‘lay down, roll over’.

PAINT MY PET! I have long been wanting a custom portrait of my kitty Nutmeg who passed away in August of 2011. She was a beautiful dilute calico who was such a sweet little princess. I miss her tons, and would love a cheery portrait of her to remind me of what a great kitty she was.

We are still grieving the loss as it only happened last week, but lovely painting of her Gracie would be a lovely reminder of all the wonderful times that they shared together.

“PAINT MY PET!” Our beloved old gal Daisy has earned a special place in our heart with the nearly 11 years of love and loyalty she’s given our family. And since she was about 2 when we adopted her from our local shelter that makes her about 13. She’s not as fast as she used to be but she sure can spring into action when we’re walking in the park and she meets all her doggie and human friends. Andie

PAINT MY PET! My husband and I adopted Happy (a Jack Russell/Dachshund mix) from a local shelter two years ago. A couple of the things that melt our hearts are his wiggly walk (he’s also known by Mr. Wiggles) and the way he burrows under every blanket/pillow he’s ever encountered. We would love to proudly display a painted picture of him.

We have a terrier mix (Humane Society said lab mix…) that is a forever puppy. She is always the fastest dog at the park but can always stop to take a pretty picture (pretty sure she knows when the camera is out). And, she smiles. That’s what it looks like at least.

PAINT MY PET! we have two cats. im not sure which one i would pick or if we would be able to have them both in one painting. we got our cats a year after my hubby and i moved in together and we’ve had them now for 12 years. henry and ramona were litter mates. they have a love/hate relationship. henry is super-sweet, but very mischievous and is a feline lymphoma survivor! she’s been cancer free for about a year and a half. ramona is also very sweet, but has a crazy mean streak at times. she gets mad at henry when henry starts making trouble. its funny. we love them!

PAINT MY PET! Oh, so hard to choose. Should it be our current pup, Hudson, with his one blue and one brown eye? He’s been the perfect dog since the baby arrived last year. Couldn’t ask for a more patient boy. Or, one of our dearly departed pups: Chloe (who was our first and crazy as all get out) or Libby (who we are ever thankful to for tempering Chloe’s chaos). Or maybe my friend’s dog Wembley who just passed away. So hard to choose, but if I win, I’ll make up my mind quickly!

PAINT MY PET! I would paint my dog Pearl. She is a Bichon Frise with the cutest personality. Sometimes I’m pretty sure she is part human the way she’ll cock her head to the side when you talk to her or how she is very good at telling you “I’m hungry” “I’m thirsty” or “I need to go outside.” I don’t have children but she is my child. Love her!
