Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…

  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada

    PAINT MY PET!
Oh boy! Please, please, please paint my beloved Clotille! Her birth name is Quella von Jagerhutte and we lost her a few weeks short of her 15th birthday. During a 3 month hospitalization after being hit head on by an under-insured teenager, my husband ordered Clotille & training her became part of his physical therapy recovery. There were things he couldn’t handle so she and I worked together and she was my friend and only other girl in the house.

She hunted like no other but was so gentle that several babies held onto her as they learned to walk. She protected us by killing a few snakes that came dangerously close to us. She protected our small dog by killing a big raccoon that came too close to him.

Of course I’ll always remember her, but a painting would be a great way to honor her spirit!

I would have the puppy love of my life, Finnegan the Boston Terrier, painted. He does so many funny/adorable/weird things, it’s hard to pick just one to share, but he loves to steal peoples seats. If you are sitting on the couch, within about 5 seconds of you getting up, Finnegan will have taken your spot!

My lab-mix Asia likes to play goal keeper. She’ll stand in a doorway and bat her ball over to you to kick. Over and over again. It’s the most convenient when I’m cooking…reminds me to stir the sauce.

PAINT MY PET! I’d have a tough time choosing which pup o’ mine to paint. One of our dogs (Roxy) is enamored by laser pointers…and, well, anything light-related. The other (Samara) is more like a cat than a dog and scares the crap out of herself every time she walks past a reflective surface.

PAINT MY PET! I have two dogs named Chaos and Mayhem. Despite their matching names they’re actually quite different: Chaos is a bouncing, noisy Elkhound mix while Mayhem is a mellow, Zen retired racing greyhound. I like to think we have the best of both worlds with the two of them :)

PAINT MY PET! I’d love to have a memorial portrait of my ASPCA rescue Smokey that I adopted back in 2000 and lost in 2010. He was the most amazing yorkie and my very first dog. I never knew unconditional pet love until I brought him home with me. I miss him everyday because he used to place both paws around my neck and hug me on the couch.

    PAINT MY PET(s)

We have two dogs, Lexi, she just turned 6 in August, a lab/beagle mix. She love to run around outside, roll in the grass.
She does think she’s people, she prefers to sleep in bed with us @ night. She’s happy @ the foot of the bed, but she’s much happier under the covers with her head on a pillow.

We also have Lily, a Maltese. She’ll be 3 this Jan 1st, she’s a New Years baby!! She’s a bossy little thing, she’ll stare @ you when you’re sitting on the couch until you move, so she can get comfy. She likes to either sleep right behind you, pushed up against your back, or on top of my pillow.

They are just the best puppies ever!! If we won, I couldn’t choose between them for a painting, I hope I could take a picture of them together for one.

My lovely kitty, Paloma or “Paloma the Gentle” as I call her… she is our adopted kitty since January, just turned four in September, and spent most of the year previous to us adopting her in the shelter because no one wanted to take her home due to her food allergies (she has to have hypoallergenic food). So what, she is a little high maintenance!

I have two rescued dogs that are the greatest “children” ever. The smaller one, Penny, likes to sleep under the covers with you. She will paw at your shoulder, like to tell you she is ready, and then forms a little ball by your stomach or feet. My husband sometimes can not eve tell she is under there and asks, “where is Penny?” So cute. She must know I am “talking” about her because she is trying to jump on my lap as I type.
