Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada

PAINT MY PET! My Siberian Husky, Nieko. He is the most aloof dog there is, but since our son arrived 3 months ago, Nieko sleeps in front of his crib every night and stands guard over the baby. He’s the best and we love him.

PAINT MY PET! We adopted our lab/german pointer mix, Hunter, from a rescue. He came to us at the end of a very tough year, which included a death in the family and our daughter’s second heart surgery. We worried an exuberant puppy would be a little too much for our fragile little girl to handle, but her older siblings desperately wanted a dog. The day we met Hunter, he was 5 months old and so excited to see us! He ran circles around us, and jumped up to lick each of my older children’s faces. Then he ran toward our little girl and instead of jumping on her, he dropped to his belly and waited patiently for her to pet him. Hunter repeated this behavior continuously with her. It was as if he knew he hand to treat her gently. We knew without a doubt that Hunter was the missing member of our family, and brought him home!

Paint my pet! My husband and I had to bring home my mother’s dog when we went out to see her because she can no longer care for the dog (10 year-old Yorkiepoo named Reesey) because she was diagnosed with ALS and the disease has progressed so quickly in the less-than-three-months that she’s known about it. She can’t walk at all now and relies solely on an electric wheelchair. The point is that she and my dad are missing Reesey SO MUCH and I’d love to be able to give this painting to them to hang in their room at the assisted-living facility. Sorry for the ramble. :/

PAINT MY PET! We have a lab-boxer mix that is the best dog I ever had. She is a rescue dog that lost an eye to a porcupine (ouch), but that doesn’t slow her down any. Her favorite past-time is hunting chipmunks. She has never caught one, but she never gives up trying. Boots is adorable and fun and sweet.

PAINT MY PET, my Boston Terrier pup Tito. We don’t know if he came this way or we made him this way, but he is so humanlike sometimes, that my husband and I joke that we wouldn’t be surprised if one day he talked. He sleeps under the covers with his head on the pillow and has a hard time getting out of bed (not a morning dog) he sits up on the edge of sofas and chairs resting his elbow on the sides, he sits on a chair in our dining room during dinner. We couldn’t love him more, he is such a riot to have around.

PAINT MY PET! I have a 3 year old golden retriever named Zoe. She’s quite a character! She will sometimes just bark randomly if we’re not paying attention to her and she likes to pull her leash off the coat hook where it resides to let us know she’d like to go for a walk outside. She’s kind of a princess and while I complain about it, the truth is I’d have her no other way!

I would love this because we recently lost our puppy that we had for 15 years. She was a horrible puppy and ate everything under the sun – shoes, carpet, wedding dresses, chocolate, a ham….you name it, she ate it.

But she ended up being the best dog ever and we miss her dearly. I would love to have one of these to hang in our home to remind us of her.

Since we’ve recently had a new baby, poor Coops I think feels a little left out and I’m sure a custom portrait would help him feel secure in his position in the family again!
