Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)

    Paint My Pet!

I have a Siberian Husky dog named Sophie, who has added a whole ‘nother dimension to the house. She’s simultaneously the cutest, fluffiest dog ever as well as super mischievous, and is a great addition to the house.

    Paint my pet!

Everyday I tell my tri-color beagle that he’s the best dog in the whole wide world! While that may actually be up for debate, he is the best in our hearts. He has black “eyeliner” markings and big pleading hound eyes, so we call him our “emo-dog”. It makes discipline hard when he’s so cute.

PAINT MY PET! I would love to have our sweet kitty painted. He’s not officially “ours” since his owners are really in the neighborhood, but he has officially adopted us as his “parents” and found his way into our hearts. He gets anything he wants, and if he doesn’t get his food at the same time every day, he sits in the kitchen window and scratches the window until we feed him. Spoiled? I’ll say so!

I’d love a painting of my kitty, Trudy. She won’t get too close to our baby, but she does leave her kitty toys on the baby’s playmat. A peace offering? Or a threat? Probably the latter, lol, but I love Trudy anyway.

PAINT MY PET! I want to have my dog painted. Well, really, he is my husbands dog. He is some sort of Lhasa Apso mix named Perky. He was already named when my husband got him. What makes him lovable to most who come around is his underbite, big wide eyes, and extreme devotion to my husband. Anywhere my husband is you can guarantee this dog will be at his feet. Perky is getting fairly old now and my husband will always have a special place in his heart for this dog and I would love to give him this keepsake.

Paint my pet! We love our mini schnauzer, Bosco. I appreciate every day how well he tolerates our young girls (3yrs and 1yr), who have a habit of chasing him, pulling his long bushy eyebrows, and “petting him ” right in the eye/nose/tail/anywhere he’d like to be left alone. He’s a great buddy to them!

    PAINT MY PET!

Macy is a mutt – we believe she’s a mix between an Irish wolf hound and something much lower to the ground. Macy is a shelter pup; during out llr first seven months together, she was incredibly skittish around anyone except us. We welcomes our son nine weeks ago (woot!!) and Macy has adopted him as her own babe: she follows him around, grooms him and brings him toys and treats! We were so worried about our four-legged LO not adapting, but she has been a gem!

I can’t choose between my two weirdo cats, so I would choose my friend’s cat and give it as a gift because my friend needs some cheering up. My friend thought his cat was pretty weird because he wouldn’t eat treats put on the floor for him, but he recently found out the kitty has terrible eyesight! Still adorbs, though.

We would have our dog, Chief, painted. He is a mutt that we adopted from Pet Refuge as a puppy. He is part Bassett Hound, part Labrador, and part German Shepher or Rottweiler (we think)… picture the body and legs of a Bassett with a labroador’s head, Shepherd’s expressive ears, and to top it all off, a tail that takes a 90° turn and flops up over his back. He’s so weird looking that he’s adorable. :-)

PAINT MY PET! I have 2 chocolate lab dogs (75 pounds each) and 2 FAT cats (17 pounds each!). I have had one of my cats for 6 years and he is the cutest little guy ever. He has a white mustache so even though he is the color of Champagne, he always looks like he has a milk mustache. Of course I love to give him kisses with my Red Stilletto Lipstick so usually his mustache has red kisses all over it! I just can’t resist! So I would want a painting of Trooper the Fat Cat :)

I reallllllllly wish some of these companys/artists would consider shipping outside the US/CANADA. Im sure with something like this, a person outside of these countries would probably even be willing to pay for the postage costs if they won. I think i’ve started to give up on looking at these… or move to america ;)

Paint my Pet! Maddie (my Yorkie, named after the storybook) is hilarious. At age 7, she doesn’t play with her toys as much, but she still gets insanely excited over plastic hangers if I happen to drop one on the floor. She’ll squirrel it away under the bed and try to gnaw off the hook part. The other day she was playing with one (it’s bigger than she is), she tripped over it, it popped into the air, and she hopped out of instinct, and hopped right through it. Man, I wish I had it on video. So funny.

Penelope our kitty came to us this year in a strange way… A young man had stuffed her in a backpack, biked down our dead end street, to our house and decided to drop her on our doorstep.
