Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

Paint my pet!! We just lost our Bella baby. She was a 120 pound South African Boerboel who thought she was a 6 pound lap dog. She loved our children with everything she had and I can’t write about her without a huge lump forming in my throat so I will stop now. A portrait to remember her by would be amazing.

Please paint my pet! I’d have our sweet dog Kiki painted. She is always right by my side (even as I type haha!) through thick & thin. She was my right hand girl last year when my husband was deployed, and is BFF’s with our son Noah. She is so protective and very loyal, and even survived two very looong plane rides back and forth from Hawaii when we were stationed there (in fact she’s named after Waikiki Beach!) I can’t imagine life without her :) Thank you for such a sweet giveaway!

    PAINT MY PET!

I have two cats, Larry and Sparkles. Larry loves to cuddle with me in the morning. As soon as he sees/hears me stir, he sits next to me on the bed and stares at me till I flip onto my back so he can lay on my stomach.

PAINT MY PET! I have the most amazing, goofy, funny little girl. Monique is a French Bulldog/Pug mix and she brings me so much joy every single day. I would be so blessed if Leslie could paint her portrait I know she would capture the essence of Monique perfectly. I would cherish it as much as I cherish my girl.

i’d ask for a portrait of my little man, Ziggy Stardust. he’s a neurotic, emotionally fragile, phobia-laden mess, but he’s my best buddy in the whole world and i love him to pieces. i already have 1200+ photos of him… a piece of artwork would be a nice addition to the collection!

We have a dog named Mischa, an 8 year old chihuahua. She has been such a rock for us, a friend, a family member; a child if you will. We now have a daughter who loves to chase her around and say “puppy!”, and even though we know Mischa is tired she runs and plays along. She has definitely showed us true, loyal love!

Paint my pet! We adopted Charlie almost three years ago, just a few months before our first child was born. It was a rough road for awhile, but we can’t imagine life without him now. Even tho he’s a lapdog that makes the same desperate-to-escape whining noise when I cuddle him as when I make him take a (dreaded!!) bath…YOUR ONLY JOB IS TO LOVE ME, PUPPEH!

Choosing just one of my three (yes, three!) dogs is hard, but I’d have to go with Inga. Inga binga, Lilly, Lilly pants among many other nicknames. She’s our nearly 9-year old chihuahua rat terrier mix.

Inga is special because she loves sleeping in as much as I do. On weekends, she won’t get out of bed until I’m ready. I love cuddling with her before facing the day. I love that little pup.

PAINT MY PET! We have a white and black spotted toy poodle named Scarlett. She is the funniest, cutest little thing and brings so much happiness to not only me and my husband’s lives but our extended family’s as well. We recently had a fire in our home and she got very sick from smoke inhalation. We now call her our Miracle Puppy because she has completely recovered after going temporarily blind from the lack of oxygen and trauma. We would absolutely love a painting our sweet little girl because she is truly one of a kind!

PAINT MY PET! I actually don’t have a pet of my own (I would love to get a dog but the apartment building I live in doesn’t allow pets), but I would really love to give someone a gift like this. I worked for a family friend over the summer, and he and his wife have always been so generous and kind to me; they have a really sweet English bulldog named Bella, and she’s definitely like child to them. They would really love a painting of Bella!

PAINT MY PET!!! My standard poodle, Presley, at 12 years old, remains the sweetest, most lovable dog I’ve ever had the good fortune to live with! We adopted him when he was 2, and he’s been my special pal through some really difficult times. Even now, with arthritic hips, he still greets me by leaping like a gazelle (all four paws off the ground) every time I come home. He is love personified.

He’s the first face I see in the morning and the last face I see right before my head hits the pillow.
