Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

What makes her especially lovable, and also weird in a way, is that she can jump very high with all 4 feet off the ground at the same time without any “wind-up”. Even the vet and doggy day-care center people say they have never seen a dog her size do that before!

I’d have my dog Bentley painted. He’s one of three canine kiddos in our family and the only one that hasn’t yet been memorialized by some awesome art. He’s a pit bull mutt who loves everyone, all people all people all people please please please pet him right now now now now now as he licks you with all his love. PAINT MY PET! I’d love to have my goldfish painted because I think she’s beautiful (and I already made a print of my cats… crazy cat lady alert!). I got her when I was TA-ing a physiology class and we were using goldfish to show blood circulation (their tails are pretty translucent). All the students got to take their fish home, but there was an extra one for me! We’ve had her for almost 3 years now!

Paint my pet! Our Bassett Hound, Dottie (AKA: Dottie Monster, DotMon, Her Royal), is the feistiest most loving Basset around! She went blind this year and has adapted exceptionally well. To watch her navigate the house and backyard you’d never guess she can’t see. She truly is an eyeless wonderdog! And our sweet boy, Flynn (our other sweet pup) makes sure her eye-holes are eye-gunk free with a daily grooming. Gross? Nah! Super Cute!

Paint my pet! I would get a painting of our pit bull Dublin. He’s the weirdest dog. When you ask him if he wants to go to on a walk he complains and acts like they are the worst thing. Then when you actually get him out of the house, he’s super excited.
