Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)

    PAINT MY PET!

It would be our beloved lab mix, who we adopted as a puppy before we were married. He’s been with us through 2 moves and 2 human arrivals (oh, and a cross-country road trip before all that!), and just turned 14 last month. He recovered from hind leg paralysis when he was 11, and about a year ago truly slowed down from old age… but that sweet face is exactly as it’s always been (as is his love of food!), and he melts my heart all day every day.

Our dog Dewey (yep, former librarian ;)) would make a great painting. He’s a 4 yr old Bichon, and while he’s unbelievably cuddly & sweet, has a quirky thing where he sticks out his tounge all the time (with his mouth closed.) I’d love to see that captured forever on our wall! :)

We have two wonderful dogs, a lab-shepherd mix and a border collie mix. Our absolute favorite thing to do is watch them play and chase each other, it never gets old. They completely own our home since we can’t say no to their adorable faces.

PAINT MY PET! Tiller is my best buddy in the whole world. What a constant source of love and laughter. One of the silliest things he does is fall asleep on his back with feet in the air and tennis ball in mouth! A pet painting would be a wonderful addition to our home.

PAINT MY PET! We love our cat The Artist so much! He’s a pretty awesome cat, though he can be a little standoff-ish. Since it’s getting cold now he’s turning into a snuggly kitty, which we love. He’s just very pretty and really lives up to his name. (When my husband first adopted him, long before I was even in the picture, his name was Prince. Hence why he is The Artist.)

Please “Paint My Pet!” We adopted our chihuahua Otis 3 years ago, and it is the best decision we ever made. He barks like crazy bc he thinks he protecting us from the dangerous squirrels outside, he sheds like crazy, and he begs for food, but I love him to death because even though no one is perfect, he is compared to everyone else in my family!! LOL.

At 90lbs, he thinks he is a lap-dog and he has the most sensitive stomach (no joke, can’t even eat treats or it is a hot mess!). We can’t imagine our lives without C-Trane–he is an amazing dog, even though his back legs are like rabbit feet.

PAINT MY PET! We have 5 furbabies, but I’d have to get our youngest, Scarlette Rose, painted. She’s a teeny red dachshund with white paws (that have the cutest freckles on them)!!! She cries whenever one of us leaves and is so happy when we get home! I’d send you a picture so you could see how cute she is, but alas! that’s not possible! My daughter would squee over a painting for her room!

I have a green quaker parrot that I’ve been slave to since I was 9 (16 years!) He is amazing and green and eats people because he is evil. He cuddles with me and gives me kisses, but he gets confused when I take my glasses off and tries to eat me as well. He is the Lois Lane of parrots. I told my husband when he proposed that he would always be my second man after QB. :D

PAINT MY PET! Our dog, Molly, is part sheltie,,part cocker spaniel. She has been with us for 9 years and everyone who meets her loves her. She looks like a perpetual puppy but only recently we found out she is suffering (bravely I might add) with leasions on her spine and a spot on her liver. Almost had to put her down quite suddenly but glad to report that she is doing well now. Would love to win this prize. Thanks for offering it!
