Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada

    Paint My Pet!
Eleanor Rigby aka “Ellie” is a miniature dachshund my husband and I adopted right after we got married. She’s our love and our joy and wants nothing more than cuddles and belly rubs all day long.
It’s a bit confusing that her name rhymes with mine (Mely/Ellie) but only for me. Somehow she’s smart enough to know the difference and I know we’d love a portrait of her!

PAINT MY PET! I would have my 4 year old american bulldog Pearla painted so that I could enjoy her precious face forever. She was just diagnosed with an aggressive cancer last week and I have felt lost and heartbroken ever since just thinking that my time is limited with her.

Everything about her is irresistible and lovable…but I will truly miss the down time lounging together with her head on my lap, and her watching me cook in the kitchen. She is a fighter and not ready to leave me yet! It would mean so much to me (and Pearla) to win this gift. <3

I’m probably an unusual person here in that I don’t have a dog, I have a tortoise! He may not be as personable as a dog, but he is sweet in his own little way. He lets me pet his head as long as I don’t approach him too abruptly! Otherwise he tucks in to his shell and hides from me :P

I would get a portrait of my baby (dog), Carter, a curly chocolate labradoodle who is the center of our attention… his quirk that makes him special is that he grunts… usually when he’s really happy (we came home!!) or sad (we’re leaving :( ) It’s pretty cute.

Ohhhh PAINT MY PET! Her name is Ribsy (after the dog in the Beverly Cleary books). My husband found her running along a highway in the middle of the country. He pulled over to keep her from being hit, checked the neighbors and ended up bringing her home … asleep in his lap at the wheel. She had 53 (fifty-three!) ticks on her itty-bitty body. We love her dearly and maintain that she will grow to be the lap dog of our old age.

paint my pet! We have blue merle aussie with one blue eye and one brown eye. She’s loyal, smart (for the most part – she has her occasional run-in with an uber clean sliding glass door like any pup!), pretty and unusually chill for her breed. But her best characteristic is the level of “abuse” she takes from our daughter. I tell her she’s earned herself about 10 years of me cleaning up her you-know-what by allowing Lila to “love” her with the intensity of a, well, three year old. :)

I would have my dog, Gabriel, painted because he is a dachshund and loves attention! If we start petting and rubbing him we basically can’t stop because he will start squirming, rolling, and sneezing until we pet him again-basically he is allergic to not being touched. We would all enjoy a picture of him so much to add to our collage wall above our couch!

PAINT MY PET!!! I would love a painted picture of my dog Louie because a) he is the most awesome rust red colour, and his portait would go beautifully with the fall decor changes I’m implementing around our house; b) because he has a kink in his tail which looks like it got caught in the escalator (it didn’t we swear!) and having a portrait would boost his self confidence when children scream in terror WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT PUPPY’S TAIL?!?; c) because we have never found out what breed Louie is and no one else can figure it out either soooo it would be a totally unique looking portrait and d) because Louie is sexy and he knows it….WIGGLE WIGGLE WIGGLE WIGGLE

Paint my pet! I would have my girlfriends toy poodle painted. Besides being the most lovable 12 year old, diabetic dude in the world, he loves to lick. He loves licking you after you’ve rub his belly for 20 minutes. He waits outside the shower door to lick your legs after you get out. He licks the air. But most of all, he loves to lick the couch. So quirky but he is the love of her life (besides me ;)).
